During history, generalization about certain groups of people has always control the thought of societies. The act of looking at someone can make people walk faster, avoid eye contact or grab with more strength their belonging without any rational justification. The fear of what is not considered “normal” make people show rejection.

It bothers me when people make fun of someone using stereotypes in jokes with the justification that is humor. When in reality is that this comments or attempts of jokes aren´t funny. People will claim that now no one can tell a joke without having someone offended by it. But, seriously, how could you think that this is funny when you know that it might hurt or make someone feel uncomfortable? Would you laugh if someone makes fun of your origins? I doubt it.

Something that I strongly believe is that stereotypes are a way of resistance to the change society is experimenting. People prefer to use them as justification to keep old beliefs that benefit them or support ideologies that in 2018 are less than valid. For example, when companies only hire men of high position because they don´t think women are appropriate.

Whether your skin tone, you weigh, your origins, your nationality, your gender remember that the only person that can define you is yourself. Your actions, your personality, your passions and abilities define you. Don´t let anyone make you feel ashamed of who you are.
