Today I come with another article, this time itโll be about learning a new language. Here are some tips, that helped me learn English, German and Korean. I hope theyโll also help you! โบ

Joining a course is a great idea! Currently, Iโm on an English course with a native speaker and this is the best way for me to learn the language. We only talk in English, no other languages (but I talk with my group in our native language, if we donโt know something or just miss the right word in English). I know, sometimes itโs hard to find a course, especially when it comes to Asian languages, but you can also look for online courses.

Before joining the course you should get know to the alphabet. When you know the alphabet, you feel more confident and know, if you want to study this language โfor realโ or it was only for fun.
You can look up for exercises on the Internet for free, there is a lot of them.

I recommend you Quizlet and Duolingo. These apps are the best for learning new languages. Duolingo is something perfect for beginners โ it starts from basics, like alphabet and greetings. You can also choose your level โ beginner or advanced. There are a lot of helpful exercises to do, and after each lesson, you can take a test to see on which part you should focus more.
Quizlet is more for vocabulary, there are only cards, from which you learn. You just have to type, e.g. โKorean foodโ and then you have cards. One set has a test, writing, listening and two cool games.

Start with small things, like articles about your favorite movie, star, band, etc. Read them out loud, itโs important to speak in this language! I also translate the articles into my native language, and itโs helping me a lot (I usually translate articles for my parents or lyrics of the song I like). Try this, maybe itโll help you too.
Everybody watch YouTube, right? So try to watch something youโre interested in, but in the language, you want to learn. At first, it might be hard for you to understand what is the person saying, but youโll get used to it and your mind will automatically recognize words.
Also thinking and talking in this language will help you a lot, you wonโt be afraid of speaking. You can speak to the mirror, to yourself, whatever โ just speak. I talk in English a lot in my home, my parents are so done with me sometimes.
You should also write in this language. There are websites where you can write something and the native speakers will check if itโs correct and tell you where you made mistakes. Theyโre really helpful, so donโt be afraid to ask for their help!

I know, on these books we spend a lot of money, but we need them if we want to learn. We canโt just skip this. You donโt have to buy expensive books or a lot of them โ three or four are enough, I think. You m u s t have grammar, dictionaries and verbal phrases. If you get an idiom book, you have everything you need.

Do it every day, for at least 15 minutes. Take small parts, donโt try to learn the whole subject in three hours, youโll learn nothing. Itโs better to take smaller parts and add a little the next day, and so on. When Iโm learning Korean, itโs helping me a lot!
