Dear Phone Users,
This is going to be a super long article, so I'm sorry, but this needs to be said because it's super annoying and it just irritates my soul when people say things like this.

I really wish people would stop being so closed minded and serious about the lyrics of a song. We all agree that music is an art. Art is supposed to be beautiful. If someone is having fun with their words, regardless of whether or not it makes any sense at all, that's beautiful because they're literally HAVING. FUN. They are doing what they love, and they are happy. PERIOD.

Are you all gonna tell your kids not to color a person blue because that's not what it's "supposed" to look like? Or are you gonna let them have fun with what they're doing and make a different, but pretty colored picture?... I thought so.

People really trip me out when they say people should ONLY listen to music that has meaning behind the lyrics. That's like saying only watch educational TV shows, or only read nonfiction books. Why can't we listen to and enjoy both? They'll both come in handy at some point in our lives. Sometimes we wanna listen to learn, and sometimes we wanna listen to enjoy. Half the time when I'm listening to music, I'm just needing something to bump while I'm in the shower or while I'm cleaning or even sleeping. It wouldn't make a difference if they were talking about something super important or nothing at all, because I'm literally just listening to the music itself. It's the tune and the flow of the words I'm focusing on. It's the sound. NOT the words. If the music sounds good, regardless of the lyrics, our brain is going to release dopamine, and it's just gonna make us feel good.

Honestly, the only music I feel like people should be trying to throw off the music wagon (if any) is music that promotes violence and drug abuse and just negative vibes that could encourage someone to harm someone else or kill someone. That's it. Even then, it's an expression. I feel like it is anyway. We all at some point feel like we literally just want to kill someone, so why not put that into music? It's better to get it out of your system by saying it than actually doing it. But people don't think like that. People always want to bash someone's WORK, yes, WORK, (It takes time and money to make music!) just because it doesn't uphold to their standards and what they falsely believe music is, when music literally started out as just instruments.

There were no words making these people way back when feel happy. It was all about the sound. Then came words, and maybe the words were talking about something, and telling a story, (I wouldn't know because I didn't look that part up, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they told stories) but no one ever said that's what music HAD to be. Back then, that was just what was going on in their era. NOW we have all this new equipment and this fun stuff to make us sound better and things we can do cool stuff with, so it's more fun. When things are fun, they spark creativity. When you're having fun, you're loose. You're free. You can do and feel whatever. So I think that's where we are today.

This era (with everything, not just music) is all about freedom. Women are wanting to wear whatever they want, even if it's nothing at all, transgenders are becoming a lot more common, not only that, but they want you to call them the opposite sex, and there are people who agree with that simply because that's how they feel. Gays and lesbians can get married, there's just so much now honestly that just wasn't before along the lines of freedom. Music is another one of those things.

Take 6ix9ine for example... I just watched one of his interviews, and he was talking about "FEFE", the song he did with Nicki Minaj. He literally admitted that the verse "pussy got that wet wet, got that drip drip, got that super soak..." meant absolutely nothing at all. He was just spitting out funny words, but guess what..? That song did NUMBERS! There were even people who didn't like any of his music at all before that song who were talking about how much they liked it, and it's because it was pleasing to the ear. It wasn't his usual screaming and yelling, but it was more of what was "trendy" right now. There was a flow in that song and it sounded really good.

Moral of the story, stop being so judgmental and just enjoy the music. If you honestly don't like the SOUND of the song because the LYRICS (WHICH HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SOUND OF A SONG) are not making any sense, then just don't listen to that kind of music. You don't need to speak on what makes music music because you don't have that right. You're not speaking any type of facts when you say "music isn't this" or "music isn't that." I'm a strong believer of FACTS. There was a time in my life where I swore up and down that pecan was only pronounced "PEE-CAN", and everyone in the south that said "PUH-CAHN" was wrong, until I looked it up for myself and realized that both are right. In the definition, it literally gives those two pronunciations of the word. No matter how much I wanted to be right, I defended that word ever since. When someone would say it's only pronounced "PEE-CAN," I would tell them they were wrong (even though it hurt so bad because I always wanted that to be true).

You can never fight the truth, people.

So just don't listen to that kind of music. Say that it doesn't interest you because it doesn't follow the old tradition of music. That's totally fine. But I am just here to tell you that YOU. ARE. WRONG when you say that music with lyrics that don't make sense is not music. Unless you can provide a reliable source that states that your definition of music is the correct definition, the REAL definition of music will always be:

"vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion."

Do your research, and most importantly, OPEN YOUR MIND. With your attitude, you will miss out on so much beauty in life simply because you don't like change.

Rant Over.

Let me know your thoughts on what I said in my messages or on Instagram whether or not you agree. I want to know if there was anything I said that was wrong, if you completely agree, or anything. I am not closed minded and I love being educated as long as you're respectful about it.

Thanks for reading this in its entirety! Love you guys!
