...and sometimes it's okay if your best means taking a break from the world.

In the Quran, we explore the story of the youth in the cave. Some call them the seven sleepers.

"Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance." (The Cave: 13)

A couple generations after Jesus (peace be upon him) spread the message to his people, these young men decided to follow the religion he was preaching, monotheism. Unfortunately, they lived under an oppressive king (possibly Roman Emperor Decius) who persecuted anyone who didn't follow his religion of polytheism. So this group of believers decided to stand up for what they believe in!

"We made firm their hearts when they stood up and said, "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we invoke besides Him any deity. We would have certainly spoken, then, an excessive transgression." (The Cave: 14)

But when it became clear to them that believing in God was a life or death choice, there was no other choice but to keep themselves safe from the world. They ran away to a cave. All there was to do now was hope that God would save them and protect them.

"[The youths said to one another], 'And when you have withdrawn from them and that which they worship other than Allah, retreat to the cave. Your Lord will spread out for you of His mercy and will prepare for you from your affair facility.'" (The Cave: 16)

Everyone in their youth is just a little bit of rebellious and strong, and energetic enough to change the world. Even though they were a group of young men, and it seems like they could do anything, they decided the wiser decision was to be patient. Sometimes we try to make changes, and sometimes, we need to keep away from those challenges, especially if we don't think we are strong enough.

But whatever you do, trust that God will prepare ease for you. Sometimes He paves the way for you to change the world, and sometimes He paves the way for you to take a rest, and spend your time remembering Him, and spending time with Him. And He knows what's best for you.

"Your Lord will spread out for you of His mercy and will prepare for you from your affair facility." (The Cave: 16)
