in this article I would like to share with you my all time best oatmeal recipe! I found this one like a year ago and since that I haven't found any better one.

Why should you eat oatmeal?

  • It is very easy, healthy, delicious and fast meal.
  • If you're trying to lose weight, oatmeal is just perfect for you (especially for breakfast), because it helps you to stay full longer.
  • Oats are also very nutritious. They contain some important vitamins, minerals and antioxidant plant compounds, they have more protein and fat than most grains and they're a good source of carbs and fiber.
  • They can also lower cholesterol levels and improve blood sugar control.

So, how to prepare the best oatmeal?

  • The biggest secret is in ratio. It should always be 1:2 (oats : milk/water/whatever you work with). For example 1/2 cup of oats and 1 cup of milk.
  • Instead of water, which you can also use of course, rather use milk for your oatmeal. It doesn't necessarily have to be cow milk, you can also use soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk... It's up to you.

Here's the method:

  • Put milk and oats into a pot and bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and cook the oats while stirring. (Make sure to not leave the pot alone, otherwise the milk may run out of it.)
  • After the consistency is soft and thick, turn the heat off, add a bit of butter into your oatmeal and let chill for few minutes.

Toppings:

  • To make your oatmeal more delicious, you can add toppings of your choice. It can be literally anything you can think of, just use what you have at home at the moment.
  • Almonds, raisins, fresh fruit (bananas, apples, berries...), nuts, sugar (white, brown, vanilla...), maple syrup, honey, peanut butter, chia seeds, goji berries, cinnamon, cocoa, cookies...

My favorite oatmeal flavours (so far):
- grated apple & cinnamon sugar
- sweet cocoa
- mashed banana & honey
- almonds & berries (blueberries, raspberries or strawberries usually)
- white sugar & grapes
