Hello, beautiful hearters. It's Tuesday! (I'm not sure where I was going there...) Today I'm sharing an article that I think will be beneficial for so many people.

College is probably my favorite years of schooling ever (besides those kindergarten and first grade days -- nothing will ever replace those nap days). But while I love it, I have struggled. A lot. And this past week was just beyond anything I have ever experienced in college before (I'm a sophomore). So, as the writer I am, I'm going to share this past week with you why it's important to take care of yourself.

A little background information is needed. I'm a sophomore in college (like aforementioned) and I'm taking online classes right now. (If you're an online college student and struggling a little, I'll list some of my school articles below👍.) I'm a full-time college student (four classes) with a very part-time job. I just started working recently (and this is my first job ever -- better late than never when jumping onto the adulting train, am I right?). I work in childcare every Thursday morning for three hours at my church. It sounds like nothing, but trust me, when you're watching about twenty 16 months to 2-year-olds, it's a lot.

With online classes, you have to be very disciplined. Create schedules that work for you, teach yourself a little more than other students, and avoid getting distracted by the shiny internet device sitting before you (your computer). You also have to put trust in your professors that they will get your assignments posted on time and when they need to be up. This is where my week turned into the most exhausting and miserable week in my entire college career.

Thursday - I woke up at 7, went to work at about 8:30 and watched roughly 15 babies (with three other people working with me, of course). Every baby cried when they were dropped off, which we hadn't seen happen yet. So this was a shock to us all. I got off work at 11:45 and didn't go home until maybe 12:15. My body kept telling me to sleep, but I didn't.

Here's how my school week works: assignments are due either Monday or Tuesday and the school week starts on Wednesday, so we get all our assignments then.

On Monday (before the Thursday mentioned above), one of my professors posted week 4's assignment (which was due on Tuesday) at 9:00 at night. Now, you can imagine my irritation. In the assignment folder, there was just a video and article. No actual assignment. But at the bottom, it said: currently, this is in the folder...

Back to Thursday night, she posted the rest of the assignment, which was write a 500-word response to deep analysis and if it should be taught academically. Due by Sunday.

Okay, cool. It's not like I have other assignments due or anything.

Friday - I woke up feeling kind of terrible. I worked on homework, slept a little bit, and went to a high school football game with my sister. I didn't have enough energy to do that, but I did anyway.

Saturday - My boyfriend asks me to spend time with him and his mom, which I agreed to, even though he knew I wasn't feeling good. He told me not to go if I wasn't up to it, but I said I would be fine. Ibuprofen got me through the day.

Sunday - It was just kind of a day. I felt a little better.

Monday - I felt great for the first time in four days. So I went to my Bible study (I was so confused and not mentally prepared for the discussion whatsoever).

Today - I have a cold. That will hopefully be one tomorrow or Thursday thanks to medicine. 👍

Now, you're probably wondering why I shared all that nonsense with you. Here's why.

Take Care of Yourself

So I shared my week with you. It was a lot. And I didn't have the energy to do it all. I exerted energy I didn't have. That was a big mistake on my part. I was exhausted, stressed, anxious, dehydrated, and overall miserable. I was too stupid and overwhelmed to take care of myself. So please don't be like me. And to help you do that, I have some tips to help you.

1. Don't Exert Energy You Don't Have. I know how hard it is to say no to people you love. I was doing everything because I knew how happy it would make them. I only aim to please. But if you feel like you don't have enough energy, say no and if they ask why then explain. I'm sure they will understand.

2. Sleep. Overused, I know, but because of my impending school work, I didn't get as much sleep as I should have, especially after work on Thursday. So sleep, or maybe even lay in bed and watch a movie. Just rest your eyes or mind (or maybe both). Trust me, this will help.

3. Stay Hydrated. I love coffee. Besides my boyfriend and God, coffee is my soul mate. (I actually haven't had coffee in the past three days, which is a record for me.) Drink plenty of water or even Gatorade. For two days, I had Gatorade and it actually helped me quite a bit. And if tea is your drink, maybe drink some of that too, but remember water is very important.

4. Avoid Undue Stress. If you're worried about school work, take the days slow. Work a little here and there. Don't work too much where you'll end up feeling stressed and exhausted.

Things You Can Do To Relieve Stress

  • Take a bath
Bath bombs are always super nice to have and very comforting. My favorite is probably Twilight. And anything with lavender.
  • Use face masks
Freeman face masks are the best face masks I have ever used, My favorites are the Dead Sea Minerals Anti-Stress Mask, Avocado and Oatmeal, and the Cucumber Peel-Off Mask.
  • Use Essential Oils
Essential oils are very comforting. There is a wide variety of essential oils to choose from. My personal favorites are Mountain rain, lavender, peppermint, and pine needles.
  • Find A DIY
You can find so many DIYs here, on YouTube, and on Pinterest. Find one you're interested in making and make it. I'm sure it will help bring your stress levels down and you get a cute room decor piece out of it, too!

That's about all I have for you today, loves. I hope this article is helpful to you guys. Always feel free to message me about (almost) anything. I'm always up to talking to new people. :)

Like always, I hope you have an amazing rest of your day and week. Remember to keep smiling. You never know who will need it.
