Today I wanted to do an article about how to feel good about your physical appearance, because I feel like it is a really important topic and a lot of people struggle with that, including me. But I feel like I developed some tricks and tips that I want to share with you.

  • Take care of your hygene. I know it's basic, but don't forget to brush your teeth, shower regularly, use deodorant. Not only others will notice it, but you will feel good yourself, feeling a lot cleaner.

Sometimes, I even shower twice a day, because I just don't feel clean and I hate the feeling. Just listen to your body and give him what he wants.
  • Be active, whether it's joining a sports team, going to the gym, doing exercises at home, going for a walk or ride your bike.

I try to workout between 3 to 5 days a week, 1 to 2 times cardio and 2 to 3 times strength. I feel like it is really important, that you balance those two things! I really like working out because it doesn't matter how bad I feel before and how much I dislike myself before, afterwards I always feel so much better about myself and I am much happier.
  • Workout, even if you don't feel like it.

Don't let a bad day ruin your week, or a bad moment ruin your day. Like I said on those days, I like to go the gym, because afterwards I feel good. And even if you have a bad workout, don't be disappointed because a bad workout is still a workout you did.
  • Wear whatever you want. It doesn't matter if it is a crop top or a hoodie. Also don't be afraid to mix up your style.

With me it always depends on my mood, how I feel and how I think I look like. On bad days, I normally wear hoodies and shirts, but when I feel confident in my body, I like to wear crop tops or even dresses sometimes.
  • Avoid looking at yourself too closely when you are on your period. The reason why I say that is, that on your period you normally already feel crapy about yourself. But you are also bloated, so when looking in the mirror your self confidence is crushed too, because you look "fatter" (what I mean is more bloated, but you don't really see that).

I feel like it is one of the worst things, because one day I feel confident about myself and my body and then the next day I look in the mirror and it totally changed and I am devasted until I realise that I am about to get my period.
  • Eat healthy! Try to avoid eating sweats during the week. I know there is always this temptation of candy at your house and it's really hard to resist. But that's why there is a cheat day during the week. Even if you are not doing a diet, it is important to have a cheat day. Mine is Saturdays and I normally don't go to the gym that day either. You can eat fast food that day, eat what you want, don't count calories, just enjoy.

In the evening, I normally get whatever I want, chocolate, chips, candy and I do a movie night with friends or family. I feel like it really helps, because like that you don't keep on snacking the bad stuff during the week and you start to get excited for that day, already knowing what you want to eat.
  • Drink lots of water. I try to avoid drinking any juices, or sodas and I replace them with water. You should drink water whenever you can, especially after you wake up and before you go to bed. Also before meals, but I always forget that.

Water just has a lot of great benefits and is really good for your physical appearance. If you don't like water, you can drink tea or flavored water, that is good as well.
  • Be happy. I know it's hard sometimes, but some who is happy has a different aura and just looks better than someone who isn't happy.

Of course, no one can be happy all the time, but try to have a good attitude, be kind, be positive and you will see how much changes.
  • Do a beauty day. Once a week, on Sundays, I do a beauty day, where I take care of everything. Do a face mask, a hair mask, do my nails, take a long nice bath. Just whatever you want to do on this beauty day. I think it's a great recovery and a good way to end the week and start a new one.

After that, I feel instant improvements already, even though I know there can't be any results from anything, just doing it gives me a confidence boost.
  • Have a mirror in your room. That might sound weird, but I feel like it helped me a lot, because like this I see myself all the time and I can get comfortable with my appearance. Also you see yourself doing normally things, like homework and stuff and get a different view, because you see how other people would see you do those things.

  • Don't compare yourself to other people. It normally doesn't help, just because you think someone looks pretty, and you don't look like her doesn't mean that you are not pretty. Don't compare how skinny you are with someone else, because everyone had a different body. Just compare you to your old self, that's the only way you will see progress and be content.

I know everyone compares themselves, but it is not beneficial. Everyone is different in their own way, and has their own issues and problems to handle. Comparing each other just makes it worse.

Keep in mind that you don't need to change anything about yourself! Every person is beautiful in their own way, but I know how I am, even knowing this I feel self concious a lot and I think many people do to!
