One of my goals this year is reading more and more books. In spite of preparing the University Entrance Exam - which is quite important for any students in my country - for about 6 months, I've read more than 10 books this year. I've chose many kind of books. Then, I decide to write this article as short reviews for the first 10 !

Since I'm Vietnamese and I read almost all of my books translated into Vietnamese, so it maybe not really exacted. I really hope that I can read all these book as original version in the future.

1. The Martian (Người về từ Sao Hỏa) - Andy Weir.

I really really enjoy the movie The Martian. Matt Damon is exactly Mark Watney for me on-screen. But then when I actually focus on reading the book, the sciential, physical, chemical surronding me make all humorous parts seem not enough. I felt tired sometimes when I'm reading it.
I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads.

“He’s stuck out there. He thinks he’s totally alone and that we all gave up on him. What kind of effect does that have on a man’s psychology?” He turned back to Venkat. “I wonder what he’s thinking right now.” LOG ENTRY: SOL 61: How come Aquaman can control whales? They’re mammals! Makes no sense.”

2. The Fault In Our Stas (Khi lỗi thuộc về những vì sao) - John Green.

I must say I expect more than what I read in this book (which is Vietnamese version I mean.) Like The Martian, I adore the live-action movie of this novel (I even have a WHI collection for it - check the collection below if you love the movie as the same as me); but I don't know why I don't really like the novel.
Maybe it's because of the way they translated the book into Vietnamese, I guess? Anyway I'm going to buy the original version soon and I can't wait to have an more enjoyable experience with it.

By the way, there are no men on earth who can be more beloved than Augustus Waters. Never.

I gave the book 3 stars on Goodreads.

'Okay?' - 'Okay.'

3. 至此终年 (Together for life / Trọn đời bên nhau) - 墨宝非宝 (Mobaofeibao / Mặc Bảo Phi Bảo).

This is a love story written by a Chinese author. I don't think this book has English version.

Frankly, I don't like it. This kind of love story in some Chinese books - cheesy; simple; has no any special meanings for anyone - doesn't interest me at all. I read it because it's my birthday present.

I gave it 2 stars on Goodreads.

'Actually, I'm really selfish. I know that my health is really unwell; but I'm still detemined to stay with you.' - ( I translate this into english myself...)

4. The Diary Of A Young Girl ( Nhật ký Anna Frank ) - Anna Frank.

I love reading the real stories. Like diary; memoirs; travel book; ... I also interested in classical books. The Diary Of A Young Girl has both of it. I admire Anna Frank so much; for her thoughts, her sublte character, her hope, her writing. I love the fact that, she wanted to be a writer , to be remembered, and she did it. We all adore her although almost one century has gone by.

I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

'I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again.' - (The photo which is on the left is Vietnamese version of the book - I very like it.)

5. You Are The Apple Of My Eye. (Cô gái năm ấy chúng ta cùng theo đuổi) - Jiubadao (Cửu Bả Đao).

I don't know if this book published in English. You maybe don't know the novel, but I think some people watched the movie based on it.

On saying about this book, I might can't control myself. Just because I like it so much. This book is one of my-fav-all-time of me and Jiubadao is my favourite author too.

I do think the answer for the question:'What is your favourite book?' of one person might say many things of he or she. And if I must choose one book for that question, I will unhesitatingly choose 'You Are The Apple Of My Eye.'

I don't give stars for this book. Not necessary, 'You are the apple of my eye - You are the most important person in my life.'

6. I Leave Me In England. (Tôi bỏ quên tôi ở nước Anh.) - Minh Thi.

This book is the memories of one Vietnamese student - Minh Thi - of one years she had studied in England. In addtion, the book also involves many knowlegde of England and the beautiful city - London. I don't have any complaints about this book. It's quite perfect for me.

I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads.

'For me, every seasons in London is beautiful. Because in my heart, London has been a love story.'- (I translate the quotes into English myself again....)

7. Growing Up After Fighting A Thousand Times (Trưởng thành sau ngàn lần tranh đấu ) - Rando Kim.

As I see in the foreword page, this book doesn't have English version. This's a self-help book that I really adore. Working as a Professor of Seoul University, Rando Kim wrote this book for students who just graduate and make them way in the world. I love the way he teaches people how to be calm, be penetrate the truth of life, be recognize what is actually good for you through such comfortable stories. Sometimes he writes real letters for people he had met.

I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads.

8. Jackie Chan: Growing Old Before Growing Up (Thành Long: Chưa lớn đã già) - Jackie Chan & Zhu Mo. (Thành Long và Chu Mặc).

This book is a autobiography of Jackie Chan written by Jackie himself and his close friend-Zhu Mo. It's literally everything about him. His early life that completely opposite his style now; his first love, true love, regretful love; his astounding career; his family his friend; his characters; even his pets. Everything.

This makes me realize many new perspectives of Big Brother Jackie Chan. The book quite attracts me.

I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

'I hope those who read my stories can come to learn that Jackie Chan is, after all, an ordinary man who had the courage and determination to do extraordinary things.

9. Paper Towns (Những thành phố giấy) - John Green.

After a small disappointment from The Fault In Our Stars just because expecting too much, I read Paper Towns without any high hopes.

The plot is very interesting for me I must say; and I hope a surprise twist at the end but no, I think it doens't have it. But the meaning of the story, the adventure that characters have and every paper things are enough to fill my heart,

Anyway somehow, I feel like I will like the movie Paper Towns than the book. I don't know why.

I gave the 4 stars on Goodreads.

'The town was paper, but the memories were not.'

10. Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda (Nhật ký bí mật của Simon) - Becky Albertalli.

Like so so many people I know, yes, I read this book because of the movie Love, Simon. Omg the movie is too cute and heartwarming to hold!!

But I made a mistake. I didn't have courage to buy original version, then I bought Vietnamese version of the book (by the way, the Vietnamese cover of it is terribly ugly). Now, just say I will buy the English version soon; and I hope I can get movie-tie-in ver!

I can't give stars for the book on Goodreads after reading (this) Vietnamese version. It's unfair.

That's all. I'm trying to complete my reading challenge this year and although there are both wonderful books and never-read-again books for me, I still enjoy reading so so much.
Can't imagine this world without them.

(with any grammar or vocabulary mistake in this article, i will be very grateful if you let me know; and so so sorry about that, i'm still learing english industriously.)

Thank you for coming.
