As a 17-year-old growing up in today's society, my mind is filled with unbelievable standards not only for women but for men as well. I'm a girl with physical appearance issues, with dreams to be someone in the big city. Watching The Bold Type at my age gives me hope, strength and that hint of a badass feeling that everyone should experience watching such a great show. I fell in love with the characters, especially Jane, Kat, Sutton, and Jacqueline.

I relate to Jane because she, like many others, is trying to find her voice, her way and no matter what she stays true to herself. I love Kat because she's the definition of confidence, she takes risks and doesn't take crap from anyone and she is not ashamed of who she likes or who she is. Everyone should have a little bit of Sutton's attitude towards life. She works hard for the position she wants, she's always there for her friends and always makes the right decision for herself. Sutton doesn't let her love life or the fact that she's a people person define her and I admire her for that. At last, Jacqueline Carlyle is the ultimate boss. She's always working hard, letting others speak their mind, gives the best advice, and she's always dressed to impress. Jacqueline is such a supportive boss, she's fierce and a mastermind.

The Bold Type is that feminist show, the show you watch when you need inspiration and the characters you want to relate to. A show that is not afraid to bring up controversial topics that have a huge impact on today's society and completely tear down the stereotypical roles of women. The Bold Type is a show that I didn't know I needed in my life, a show that I would definitely want my future daughter to watch so she can learn from the women of The Bold Type.

Love, Jen
