1. Avoid processed food

I know it' hard to avoid processed food when it's something that appears everywhere and that is easy to make, especially for people who lack the time or the motivation. Yet, food like frozen pizza, baked goods or fried foods are really bad for your health because most of them contain trans fats and because they are made with partially hydrogenated oils.

2. Limit foods that contain high saturated fats

High saturated fats are really bad for your halth because they raise the level of cholesterol in your blood. High levels of LDL cholesterol in your blood increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Anyway, some of the foods that contain this are pizza, cheese, red meat and full-dairy products.

3. Oils

While some oils might be bad for your health, others do wonders for it. Oils will help reduce risk of heart disease because they rise your HDL cholesterol. Some good oils you want to add to your diet are olive, canola, peanut, sunflower, corn or soy oil as they are very good for your health.

4. Fish

Omega 3 is a very important for your health as it is strongly linked to improved cardiovascular health, you can mostly find it in fish such as tuna, salmon, sardines or trout. Omega 3 can also be found in nuts and seeds along with plant oils but it is better to get it from fish because it's processed faster this way.

5. Low sugar

Try to choose foods which have low sugar and low refined carbohydrates. Also try to avoid sweets, soft drinks, sugary fruit juices and white bread. You can eat them but you should watch closely their consumtion. Try to go instead with fresh juices, whole grain bread and whole fruits.

6. Whole foods instead of processed foods

Try to increase the amound of vegetables and fruits you eat as they have lots of vitamins and minerals that help your body. Better eat fresh ones than canned ones as those have most likely been modified somehow and they may contain added sugar or salt.

7. Organic food

I know it's more expensive, but, turns out, it's also healthier. If the price bothers you then you can buy only some products such as apples, berries or other fruits. Organic foods are better because they do not carry pesticides residues or food aditives like most processed food does. Be careful though, there is a history of sellers selling processed food as organic and just taking off the labels.

And I guess that's it for today. I hope you stay healthy and that you choose what's right for you. Get the food your body asks for and what you want.
