Dark under eye circles can be derived/caused from many things, which includes:

  • Medication that causes blood vessels to dilate
  • Excessively scratching and rubbing the eyes
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of sleep
  • Stress
  • Genetics (yes it can be hereditary)
  • Vitamin K deficiency

How to naturally get rid of dark under eye circles:

Get enough sleep

Make sure you are getting 7-9 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep tends to cause the blood vessels under the thin skin of the eyes to dilate, which creates a dark tint. Aka the dark circles under your eyes.

Eat green leafy vegetables

Green leafy vegetables like broccoli, spinach, and brussel sprouts contain vitamin K. Vitamin K helps with blood coagulation and circulation. Poor blood circulation can increase the appearance of dark circles.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice contains vitamin C, which has skin lightening properties. This will reduce the darkness under the eyes.

Apply lemon juice onto a cotton pad placing it underneath your eyes, leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. Just make sure you don't get it in your eyes!

Gel eye mask

A cold gel eye mask can help constrict the blood vessels in the skin under the eyes, reducing the appearance of dark circles. You can purchase a gel eye mask at your local drug store if not small gel icepacks will work too! Anything cold under your eyes will work really.

Makeup coverage techniques:

Use a color corrector

Color corrector to use based on your skin complexion for dark circles:

  • Fair to light complexion: salmon corrector
  • Light to medium complexion: peach corrector
  • Medium to dark complexion: orange corrector
  • Dark to deep complexion: red corrector

If you have brownish dark circles: yellow or peach corrector

Adding translucent powder under your eyes after applying your foundation and concealer helps lighten/brighten up the area. Leave the powder on for a good 10 minutes and lightly brush it off with a big fluffy brush.

Under-eye products

Eye creams

Eye creams reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and dark circles.

When purchasing an eye cream make sure to look for eye creams that contain:

  • Vitamin K
  • Caffeine
  • Brightening/lightening properties

I recommend applying an eye cream every morning and night

Under eye patches/masks
