truthfully i am not a kid person and i've never wanted kids. so this is something i've never really given much thought. however i do have nieces and nephews. as the "cool aunt" if there were three lessons i could teach them they would be:

  • follow your heart.

listen to yourself. you know what's best for you. even if other people try and tell you different. it's important to follow your heart, no one else can make your dreams come true except you.
  • listen to your parents...they know more than you give them credit for.

my mother was my best friend growing up. without her i don't know what i would have done. she helped me get through so much and it strengthened our relationship. it's not a bad thing to listen to your parents.
  • stay true to yourself.

it is very hard to stay true. especially growing up and in high school. everyone wants something from you. if you just take a step back, take a deep breath, and remember who you are everything will be ok. it will also make you a better person in the end.

not only are these good lessons for children, i think they are good lessons for adults as well. life is tough, it will knock you down and kick your ass. but if you stay strong you'll crush it! what are some lessons you've taught your kids? and what are some things your parents taught you? let me know if you agree with mine.
