hey guys!!
With summer just around the corner, I decided to share some of my favourite books that you can read pool-side, on the beach, or wherever you are this summer. I know a lot of people find it hard to read during the semester and that they usually try to pick up a book or two over the summer so I'm here to help you decide what to read!
1. Anything Morgan Matson

Morgan Matson writes fantastic summer books that make you laugh, cry, and want to live your life. Her characters are relatable and funny. The stories are gripping yet light and easy to read. I can't say enough about her.

My favourite book of her has to be Since You've Been Gone. The story is about a girl called Emily who's best friend, fun-loving and spontaneous Sloane, has disappeared right before what was supposed to be the best summer ever. She does however, leave Emily a to-do list, with things that Emily would never do without Sloane at her side. From apple-picking, to dancing until dawn, Emily's summer is spent doing things on this crazy list (with help from gorgeous Frank Porter).
It's fun and exciting and made me go out and do stuff and be more spontaneous. I would really recommend it to anyone who needs more inspiration and motivation to come out of their shell and enjoy their teenage years. Its absolutely perfect.

2. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

So this is a trilogy. It's a whirlwind of emotions and feels and gorgeous boys. It's about this girl, Isabel 'Belly' Fisher who basically lives for summers at her beach house. She grew up going to the beach house where she would spend her days with her mother, her mother's best friend Susannah and her two kids, Jeremiah and Conrad. The boys started off as brother figures, but as they grew up, Belly began to develop crushes and that's where our story begins! Who doesn't love a good beach summer romance?

It's more than just a fluffy novel, it has grit and is seriously emotional. I couldn't put it down and it made me want to convince my mother to buy a beach house immediately. It's the definition of summer goals. The characters (especially the boys) are so loveable and realistic. I felt I knew the characters by the end of the three books and I just didn't want it to end. These books are beautiful and so hard to put down once you pick them up.
3. Confessions of Georgia Nicolson

So this is a 10 book series in which the first one was turned into the insanely popular movie "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging'. If you've seen the movie, you know how great it is. It's hilarious and utterly relatable and realistic. It's fantastic.
Well the books are just as good and there is 9 more books of content with your favourite characters and the hilarious Georgia Nicolson. The books are basically diary entries in which she is brutally honest and such a true representation of teenagers that I felt like I was reading a friend's diary.

From awkward encounters to adventures with the Ace Gang, to fights with her sister Libby, these books are so so easy to fly through and they will have you laughing out loud every few pages. They take place during Georgia's school years and are primarily based during school time but honestly they are perfect summer reads because they are so light and fluffy. The books are very English but I'm not from England and I still really enjoyed them. They are perfect for people who don't read a lot, because it feels like you're reading text messages from your best friend! There aren'y any big scary and complicated paragraphs, just loads of gossip and stories. And loads of boy experiments!
The first book is called 'Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging.' by Louise Rennison.

4. Random Stand-Alone Books
These books aren't part of a series and so are perfect to read if you're on holidays and want to read one book and have the entire story wrapped up by the end of it!
-My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
This is a summer romance between our main character, Samantha Reed and her next-door neighbour Jase Garrett. Their lives are very different and they come from quite different classes/homes despite living right next door to each other. This is an adorable read, perfect to fly through. The characters are very mature and they don't have you pulling your hair out for being stupid or unreasonable. They are extremely realistic and a pleasure to read about.

-10 Things We Shouldn't Have Done by Sarah Mlynowski
This is very like Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. This book is about two best friends who move into together unbeknownst to our main character's April's parents. It starts with a small white lie and suddenly they are working their way through 10 things they certainly shouldn't do. They have house parties, they drink, they live their lives. It's fun, it's sexy, it hilarious and it makes you want to be friends with them. I read this in one day by the pool last summer and it was so perfect!

-This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
This is absolutely adorable. A teenage movie star accidentally sent our main character Ellie an email about his pet pig. Come on, who wouldn't die for an email from Zac Efron or Josh Hutcherson, pet pig or not?! However, she doesn't know it's him. He then goes to her hometown to shoot his newest film and cuteness and adorableness ensues. It's a lot of girl's fantasies and it's great to read about it happening and maybe even pretend it's happening to you. It's a fun, easy summer read that doesn't let you stop smiling.

Anyway I hope those recommendations helped! None of these books are super new either so your local library should have some of them. I hope if you do check any of them out that you love them at least half as much as I do, or if you've read them already, message me and we can talk about them!!
