"You say I've 'turned out fine'. I think I'm still turning out." -AJR, Turning Out

You don't have to have it all figured out at the age of seventeen.

You don't have to know where you want to go after school ends. You don't have to know exactly what city you want to stay in for your whole life. You don't have to know what type of person you want to be with, you don't have to know what type of person you want to be.

At the age of seventeen, you're still figuring things out. You're testing the waters, not plunging into them.

At the age of seventeen, you don't have to know who you are. You don't have to know who your best friends are, who your soulmate is. You don't have to know exactly what you'll do when things don't turn out exactly as you want them to.

At the age of seventeen, you're still growing up. You've been on the earth for seventeen years and that's not enough. People will have expectations of you, people will want things from you, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you can give them that.

You're still figuring things out, and that's okay. Take your time. Explore, have an adventure. Don't completely ignore the weight of all these questions, but take your own time and set your own pace when trying to figure out all the answers.

You're still seventeen, and you don't have to discover all the answers to your life in one year. No one has, no one ever will. Nothing is set in stone, and no one can possibly know exactly what they want and stick to that forever. Things change, people change, you change.

You're only seventeen, and you're still growing up. And that's perfectly okay.
