A fresh new year appears before us like a blank journal waiting for a new episode that will become, in some respects a permanent part of our lives.
Every year we make resolutions to be better. This year, I'm going to lose 10 pounds, I'm gonna learn how to play the piano, I'm gonna exercise more often. We're are genuinely confident we'll follow through, but statistics show that only 8% of goal setters actually stick with their resolutions. Then why do we make these resolutions?

We have this internal desire to want to be better, and the difference between who you are and who you want to be, is what you do. But lot of us aren't willing to do something about it. And if we DO, do something about it, most don't persist.
The keys to achieving success are constant habits that you don't give up on; Realize you have complete control over whether you are a part of the 8% of those who are fulfill their resolutions and change their lives. Often times we make goals that are too broad, this time set a very specific goal. Something easy, to stay consistent in. Let's say you want to start living a healthier lifestyle... Create a goal to wake up before 7 a.m.

No excuses. Make it happen day in and day out!

It's not too much, but you will realize over time that, other aspects of your life will begin to change. What began as simply waking up earlier turned into exercising more often. It's not that waking up caused a healthier lifestyle, but rather those initial changes started chain reaction causing other good habits to develop.

So what happens, weeks from today when the hype is over? People stop talking about new year goals, you become less motivated, your brain starts coming up with excuses for why you can't do it. What will you do then?

The true measure of your character is what you do when the excitement is over, is what you do when nobody's watching.
Having a definite goal is essential to persistency, you need to have a vision, and believe in that vision, because belief is what will make those routines stick.

I think a lot of us, want to believe, but we don't truly believe when it gets difficult, sometimes it takes more than just believing in it yourself to last. Change becomes real when we can see it in other people's eyes.

So this year, take that step to becoming who you want to be. No more disappointments. Be consistent. Remember your vision. Believe you can do this, and surround yourself with people who will only bring you up. Don't let another year full of opportunities pass you by. Treat every day of this year as if it was your last, and remember... Victory is in the details.
