Snakes

- In India, the snake represents rebirth, death and mortality

- The Hopi tribe worshipped the rattle snake as the grandfather and king of snakes

- The African goddess Mami Wata is depicted as a woman with a snake

- Many MesoAmerican cultures saw a serpent as a portal between two worlds

- The snake is a symbol of the devil in Christianity

- Egyptians associated cobras with the god Ra and also harmful gods such as Apep and Set

- Snakes were associated with spirits of the deceased in Roman tribes, and some African tribes

- In Korean mythology, snake goddesses were deities of orchards, courts, and protect the home
