I used to struggle with my skin and it got to the point where I began to lose confidence in myself. I tried every single way imaginable to clear up my skin and get rid of dark spots, and let me just tell you that the internet lies.. a lot. I want to share with you everything that I’ve learned about skin care. What I’ve been doing has helped miraculously and I am so much happier with how clear my skin has gotten.
Note: I'll be recommending products for dry, combination, and oily skin types.

Step 1: Washing Your Face
Make sure to find a face wash that suits your skin type. This takes some experimenting with different products. It's important to find a face wash that doesn't leave your skin dry. After using your facewash, if it feels like your skin is gonna crack or it's hard for you to move your facial muscles then that is not the facewash for you!

Dry Skin: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Combination Skin: Simple Micellar Face Wash
Oily Skin: CeraVe Salicylic Acid Cleanser

Step 2: Serums & Treatments
Toners are a myth. My recommendation is to go for serums. The Ordinary and The Inkeylist have the best serums and products in terms of formula and price point. There are a lot of options and it can be overwhelming, so I'll list the most common skin concerns and which serums target these problems below!

Niacinimide: lightening dark spots; combination/oily skin
Vitamin C: brightening the skin, very strong and harsh so use with caution!
Hyaluronic Acid: dry, patchy skin; hydrates areas of the face
Caffeine Solution: dark eye bags, undereye puffiness

Step 3: Moisturize
Moisturizing is so important to keeping your skin hydrated and healthy. Your moisturizer should not feel heavy or sticky on your face. Also, make sure your moisturizer is oil free because you don’t want oil clogging your pores. You should always moisturize last: after washing your face and using serums.

Step 4: Avoid Touching Your Face
This is probably the hardest thing to do, but it is the #1 reason for causing scarring and blemishes. Never pick at your face. Picking at pimples can cause them to scar and leave dark spots, which takes up to 3x longer to disappear than a pimple. The oil from your fingers can also cause you to spread dirt and cause pimples around affected areas. This is why you should always wash your hands before touching your face, whether its to scrub in face wash or put on foundation.

Another very important tip for clear skin is never rub your face. After showering or washing your face, instead of rubbing your face with a towel and causing irritation, lightly pat the towel on your face to absorb excess water. When washing your face, gently massage the face wash into your skin. When applying moisturizer, use a very gentle touch and lightly spread/massage the moisturizer onto your skin. You do not want to rub it in hard.
