Hello everyone!! So, my life is a mess (wich is something I'm pretty sure most people relate to) and lately I've been trying my best to get it together. I've been battling with anxiety and depression for 5 years now and it's not easy, wanting to sleep all day and not being able to fall asleep at night, assignments getting accumulated and doing all of them the night before the due date, living in your own mess, forgetting stuff, not wanting to do all of the things you enjoy anymore...

This is my second year at uni, last year I didn't know what I wanted to study and chose the wrong career. This year I decided to go for a career that suited me better and I like this new path I'm taking, but it's slowly killing me. I realised that even if I was wrong in my career at first, nothing I ever chose was gonna work out if I didn't try my best, so here I'll show you just what I've been trying to work on. This is how to start having productive days and how to get your life together.

Motivation

If you're like me, you probably once thought about how cool it would be to have productive days everyday and your life just literally sorted out, waking up as radiant as the sun and spend all day smiling... but then just think about how lazy you are and would rather stay in your bed all cuddled up in your blankets and procrastinating the whole day... or the whole year if it was possible. This has happened to me for quite a while. If there's no motivation, how are you supposed to start being productive?

Here's a list of the things I do to get motivated!

Nothing makes the motivation kick in faster than watching people in youtube having their lives pretty much sorted out. I start thinking "what a pretty room I wish mine was like that" "ugh she looks like she has no stress at all, I wish I could relate".

  • Music

Music is my whole life. Playing music loudly in my laptop makes me happy. I hate dancing but when I play music in my room I suddenly just want to jump around and yeah... that's what I call dancing.

  • Cleaning my room

I've been a terribly messy person my whole life, but when my room is clean I just feel fresh and happy. I thought cleaning my room would take at least a whole week but jamming out to my music and watching some videos got me in the mood to try to clean and I did it in a day!

Tips to keep your room organised

As I said, I'm terribly messy and if this has worked for me then I'm sure it will work for anyone motivated enough.

- Throwing your dirty clothes in a basket immediately after you take them off

- If you have to clean a desk and drawers, separate your stuff in to what you are gonna keep, what you're gonna throw away and what you can recycle

- Fold or hang your clothes the day your laundry is done so you don't end up leaving them in your bed or in the desk's chair, play some music while you're at it so it doesn't get too tedious

- Hang your backpack or bag in your closet after you get home from school

-Lazy tip: When making your bed put your your blankets away into the closet and only leave one of them and a couple of pillows nicely arranged, that way you don't have to fold the other blankets.

  • Good smells
Temporarily removed

Complementing motivations, a clean room and music with a shower is the best thing ever, specially when the shower is long and warm. I recently bought lavender oil and violet oil to burn at night and my room ends up smelling awesome. Scented candles work great too!

If you're thinking you have no time for this, keep in mind I do all of this in the afternoon or at night, when I get home from uni!
