Hello and welcome to another article of the 'Overcoming Insecurity & Anxiety' Series.

Today, we are going to talk about prayers we like to avoid even though we know that God knows. The prayers that can be very painful since we are talking about things we never talked about before. But in order to improve, grow and get better, we have to talk with God about these things. We have to let him in into our ''dirty room'' in order to experience his healing and restoring power.

³ For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.

One reason why do not get better and feel stuck is, because we are trying to hide things from God refusing to confess to him. Sometimes it’s because we are ashamed or afraid that God will not forgive us this kind of sin. Sometimes it's because we do not want to admit that we've done something wrong.

Let me tell you one thing: IT IS POINTLESS! Pointless to try hiding the truth from someone who is Truth. He already knows and still chose to love and forgive you. All you have to do is to talk to Him.

The burden of guilt, shame, anger etc can lay very heavy on us and hinder us from growing and moving on. We are stuck in the past and we keep dragging all the pain and faults into new relationships and opportunities. This causes anxiety and fuels your insecurities.

So if you really want to get better; START talking and surrender.

Thank God, we are no longer slaves to sin. Jesus left us the Holy Spirit who guides and protects us. He will help you overcome your addictions and He will help you to tear down every wall (build by you or the enemy) that stands in your way. He will break every chain and free you from everything that is keeping you hostage, just like, fear, insecurity, anger and pain.

But again the Holy Spirit only starts doing His work, if you invite him and surrender everything you are, to Him.

So how do we surrender?

We pray. It will not be easy and probably painful. But even Jesus praid painful prayers.

He prayed one that was so painful He even started to sweat blood, but he kept praying because He knew who He was praying to.

There is no prayer that will get rid of the the storms we (will) face. Not because God can't but because it is a necessity in order to grow and become the person God wants us to become. But don’t worry you don’t have to face these giants by yourself because God promised to be there along with us.

He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
- Psalm 23:3

So don’t let the focus of your prayers be the storm but focus on how to overcome and get through the storm with the help of God. Change your mindset from ''Why is this happening only to me?'' to ''What can I learn from this situation''.

Don't be afraid to ask God if you do not understand what He's trying to teach you. Be honest with God. Tell Him how you feel. ''God, I am really struggling right now, please help me.''

Is there anything painful or fearful in your life right now that you need to talk about with God in prayer? Is there something you do not understand? If so take some time to pray and meditate.
