So I heard lots of really great things abut this book called 'Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe'. It had been recommended so many times that I decided to buy it. I'm so glad I did because it has now become one of my favorite books and it was truly amazing!

Writing Style

Firstly, the writing style was something I really enjoyed. It was very simple and straight to the point which I really liked, and the chapters were pretty short. There wasn't endless pages of pointless description but at the same time I could easily picture the setting and characters in my head. I also found that there were hidden meanings behind the simple sentences. So as much as the writing style was simple, it was also so emotional and meaningful.

Plot

Secondly, the plot was fantastic. My take on the book, is it is based around relationships, whether they be between friends or family.

The book is about the character Aristotle's (Ari's) life and the book is set in the time period of 1980's. It mainly focuses on the friendship between Ari and Dante and how it forms into more. It also centers around the topic of sexuality and the struggle of finding out who you are.

Family plays a big part in this book and it shows the journey of Ari trying to understand his parents and his past. Overall, I highly enjoyed the plot and all the twists and turns that it brought.

Quotes

There were so many quotes I loved from this book but her are a few of my favorites:

'Sometimes pain was like a storm that came out of nowhere. The clearest summer could end in a downpour. Could end in lightning and thunder.'
"We all fight our own private wars."
"You're smile is back" That's what Dante said.
Smiles are like that. they come and go.'
'Scars. A sign that you had been hurt. A sign that you had healed.'

Characters

The characters were something I loved most throughout this book. I loved every single one of them. (Well apart from the odd few for obvious reasons). Ari and Dante I especially love. They're each different in there own ways. Ari is quiet and not so i tune with his emotions. Dante however is self - assured and knows exactly what his thoughts on things are. Together they bring out the best in each other and it forms an amazing friendship.

The parents of both boys are so loving and accepting and I wish everyone could have parents like theirs. I absolutely loved the relationship between Ari and his mother, I really like how the author portrays parents in a positive light unlike so many books do.

So, in conclusion, as you have probably noticed I love this book a lot. The only thing I would change, is I wish there was an extra few chapters after the ending as Ari and Dante are too cute. However I did really like the way it ended.

I would 100% recommend this to everyone and would rate it 4.5 maybe even a 5 out of 5

! Sorry this review was so long but I had so much to say (props to you if you read till the end)! Please comment any thoughts, opinions of questions if you have any!
