"Make a list of your favorite works of art."

After taking AP Euro last year, I developed a great appreciation for art. I may forget some, but these are what pop into my head. Also, I'm not going to include fan arts from various subjects because that would take just too long!

Wanderer Above the Sea Fog by Caspar David Freidrich

I adore Romanticism, and especially this. It represents the rugged individual and finding your own adventure.

And I even did my own recreation! When I showed it to my AP Euro teacher, he said, "Where the hell did you find a foggy ledge?" It was in Portland, Maine!

Impressionist Sunrise by Claude Monet

I love all impressionist art. I prefer the abstract, so it can be interpreted whichever way the audience wishes. I even really enjoy impressionist photography. This painting was the start of that.

A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Serat

I've always loved this painting. Doesn't that look like the best Sunday ever, chilling in the park after church with your buds? Not that I go to church but dayum, it makes me want to.

Woman in E by Ragnar Kjartansson

This one is a live woman continually playing an E minor on a telecaster, and it's beautiful. To me, it represents a sad feeling of being an idol, but being alone in that.

The Visitors by Ragnar Kjartansson

Kjartansson does some really cool things with his art. They're all music based, so you really have to be live to experience it. Here, there's a room with videos being projected of people playing music in different rooms of a house. At the end, they all come together. I know the intention wasn't to represent loneliness, but that's how I connect to it.

David by Michelangelo

Abusive image
Look at him! He's sculpted to perfection! I will never get over how good he looks in every little detail. I see beautiful men and I compare them to David.

The Swing by Fragonard

I adore Rococo! The pretty colors, the aristocracy at play. The hints of sexuality here and there. For sure a definite favorite art style.

I was in Washington DC visiting my brother not too long ago and we went to the Hirshhorn. There was a ton of stuff I really enjoyed there (modern art is my favorite art ever), but I can't remember any particulars besides the works of Kjartansson. If you ever get the chance to go to art museums, check them out! Years back I went to the National gallery of art on a school trip and couldn't fully appreciate it because I was so tired. I can't wait to go again!
