The Best Find

I've recently purchased the most epic self-help book I will ever come across in my whole entire life, called Unf*ck Yourself by Gary John Bishop. I am firmly hanging on to every word I read in this book, because I feel like I'm getting closer to actually taking full responsibility for my life with every sentence.

Let me explain. It's not as rude of a book as it may seem by the title. This book is about breaking up with my own worst enemy. My self-sabotaging mind.

The way we talk to ourselves and others instantly shapes how we perceive life, and that same perception directly impacts our behaviour right there in the moment. It all starts by making a conscious choice to talk in a way that's helpful rather than harmful.

Either you control your destiny, or your destiny will control you. Life won't stop for your pauses and procrastinations. It won't stop for your confusion or fear. It will continue right along without you. Whether you play an active part or not, the show will go on.

...

When you're willing to do what it takes, nothing else matters. You won't put off the things you're truly willing to do. You won't neglect responsibilities you took on because you will feel the strong sense of willingness to do them.


Willingness. It's the infinite well of possibility and potential, a state where new futures arise and a whole new you can begin.

You see, I've said it before, but sometimes it's actually quite hard for me to hear. I am the only person on this whole entire planet who can make my dreams come true, or let them slip through my fingers. Me. Always.

It's time for me to stop playing the blame game, and allow this book to wake me up from all of that useless stuff. Start to think realistically, map out a plan for myself, and stay dedicated to improving myself, and my life.

Finally, here are some things I've written down in my journal yesterday to keep myself upbeat and motivated to take action and chase after my dreams, instead of wallowing in self-pity for the rest of my life.

I now start every single day with telling myself these positive affirmations. I came up with them myself, and they make all the difference for me. Even when I don't believe them in the moment, these words and statements have a way of seeping into my subconscious mind and make me feel good about myself.

"I am confident. I have proven many times that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to. I fully believe in myself and my own capabilities. I’m making my dreams come true.”


“I am willing to work hard. I am unwilling to stay in this place forever. I am unwilling to doubt myself and waste my potential to do something good, so I am confident and proud of everything that I am and do in life.”


“I love myself. I am grateful and love taking care of my body, mind and soul.”


“I am worthy, I am talented, I am fierce, I am unstoppable.”


“I don’t focus on problems, I work on solutions.”


“My sensitivity is my strength, my secret super power that allows me to follow my intuition and show compassion to others. It’s why I am so driven to chase my dreams.”

“Success is right around the corner. I’m super psyched and can’t stop working towards a happy and successful life, making my dreams come true as I go.”
