This poem is about a boy I fell in love with, slowly and then all at once. The next day he was gone, he emotionally tuned out when he realized I had so much more life to live.

They say we rise by lifting others.
More accurately - as we rise we must lift the people around us. If we can't we must leave them behind. In the beginnings of your journey called life, leaving people behind who no longer align with your energy is the hardest thing in the entire world. Why, because humans live for each other, we are pack animals. I wish I could say it gets easier but I'm really not sure if it does.

I left you behind
but I still use your words sometimes.
Your metaphors stick with me they are lessons in my mind.
If I give up. I fall back to you, but you are no longer mine.
