Hey guys!! I just saw Love, Simon yesterday and I absolutely loved it. I want to do a review on it because the book and the movie both mean so much to me. I have read the book 7 times so far and plan on reading it many more.

I laughed. I cried. I loved every minute of watching this movie. I know that so many people who read the book didn't like this movie because the writers changed a lot of things unnecessarily. I just felt like the changes weren't dramatic enough for me to be bothered by it though. They took away a lot of the inside jokes Blue and Simon had, and that was disappointing, but I understand that it would've been very difficult to include every single thing. Even though I knew how it ended, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I loved that feeling. This movie had the same charm the book had, and that was amazing. I feel like this story is something everyone can relate to in some way, and I definitely recommend seeing it.

My Rating

Spoilers

I am warning you right now: if you don't want to know how the movie ends, do not keep reading
Okay, so now that we got that out of the way, CAN WE TALK ABOUT BRAM'S SMILE. MY HEART MELTED EVERY TIME HE SMILED. That being said, I loved how Simon was friends with Bram in the movie. I know that they sat at the same lunch table in the book too, but they weren't actually friends. Simon's relationship with his family was SPOT ON. His dad was amazing and I loved the scene where he broke down crying, telling Simon how proud he was of him. I felt that the writers understood the characters very well. One thing that I didn't really appreciate, was how blunt Martin was about the blackmailing. In the book, Martin was more like "Well, I'm not blackmailing you. I just think it would be in your best interest to help me." Which is obviously blackmail but he was kind of denying the fact. In the movie, Martin was basically like "Uh, are you going to help me or not because I have your emails and I'm not afraid to leak them. So yeah, maybe I am blackmailing you." Um quick clarification: neither of those are real quotes. :D I don't know, that's just how I saw it. Maybe some of you agree with me? And can we talk about how Leah was in love with Simon. Okay, plot twist? I had read about that online, so I wasn't shocked, but a ton of people in the theater were. Honestly, I'm not sure what the point of that was, but maybe I'll realize it after seeing it again? Not sure. Lastly, I would like to discuss the end. THE FERRIS WHEEL AND DRIVING HIM TO SCHOOL AND THE CASUAL KISS OH MY GOSH IT WAS SO CUTE.

Final Thoughts

I loved this movie. I know that it differed from the book in many ways, but it was just as cute and I am going to watch it again like 10 million times. I hope you all enjoyed this review!! Thanks for reading!
