this is my first article! today, i thought i would share some of my absolute favourite films. i already have a collection on this, but i would like to explain further what some of these films are.

Lolita (1997)

this film will leave you feeling conflicted - at least it did when i first watched it. this film is about a man who falls in love with a teenage girl, named lolita. it left me feeling conflicted as you end up feeling sorry for a pedophile - without giving too many spoliers. if you haven't seen this film, you most certainly should watch it.

Catch Me If You Can (2002)

in my opinion, this is one of DiCaprio's best films. based on a true story, Frank Abagnale manages to make millions of dollars before his 19th birthday by forging cheques with different identities while posing as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer. it stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks - two of my favourite actors of all time. i definitely recommend this film to everyone - it's funny, it features brilliant acting, and it will leave you on the edge of your seat. this is probably my favourite film of all time.

Trainspotting (1996)

in this cult classic, Ewan McGregor stars as Mark Renton, a young scotsman who is addicted to heroine. it follows his journey to success and the decisions and sacrifies he makes and the friends he loses on the way. it's an amazing film - funny, dramatic and gripping.

The Greatest Showman (2017)

now, i'm not a fan of musicals - but this film is truly incredible. it follows P.T. Barnum, played by Hugh Jackman, and his journey into making the circus that we know today. it also follows two love stories, and some amazing songs are featured in this film. this film is my favourite to be released in 2017, and it is the first film that has left me speechless. i literally cried several times in the cinema because i thought it was so good. it's really worth that hype that surrounds it!

Mean Girls (2004)

possibly the most quotable film of all time. it's such an iconic film - if you haven't seen it, where have you been?! the film tells the story of Cady Heron who is played by Lindsay Lohan who was educated in africa by her parents and is experiencing american public school for the first time. she begins hanging out with the 'mean girls' of the school as a joke, but things begin to spiral out of control very quickly. i've watched this film so, so many times and it never gets old.

Ladybird (2018)

it's hard to describe what this film is actually about ...? it's basically just about the life of a teenage girl in 2003. it follows the rollercoaster relationship with her mother, and the romantic relationships she has before she moves away to go to university. it's really funny but also beautiful, it's a very visually pleasing film and the filming locations are just so extraordinary. i saw it on my 16th birthday and i was honestly not disappointed at all. i definitely recommend it.

The Sixth Sense (1999)

i believe this film is classed as a horror, however i really hate horror films as i get scared easily, and it didn't scare me one bit. this film stars Bruce Willis as a child therapist who is trying to help a little boy named Cole who is visited by ghosts. i cried a lot at the end of this film because of the twist - i really can't tell you any more about this film without spoiling it. please watch it, if you haven't already.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

quotes, life, and movie image
if i had to name a perfect film, The Shawshank Redemption would be it. it is narrated by Red, who is played by Morgan Freeman, who has served 20 years at Shawshank Prison at the start of the film, and it tells the story of his inmate and good friend Andy Dufresne, who is played by Tim Robbins, who is a respected banker that is sent to prison for a crime that he did not commit. it's moving and emotional, and the ending is so spectacular. it is based on the book by Stephen King.

Romeo and Juliet (1996)

this interesting adaptation of Shakespeare's play features Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo and Claire Danes as Juliet. i love the story of this play so much and i think this adaptation is unique, but it works well. DiCaprio plays a fantastic Romeo in my opinion. give it a watch if you haven't already.

that's it for this time! i may do another one of these in the future... i don't know. i have a lot of favourite films! have a good day :)
