In today's article I decided to talk about different things you can do to turn a sick day into a productive day! I think we often have this mindset of always being too busy to be sick, so I hope this article helps you to balance your day to make it a productive one as well!
So let's get started!
Get in the mood
Every little thing that you can possibly think that would make you feel a little bit better, do it. Make your space and yourself feel the comfiest.
- Take a hot shower before you begin your work
- Put on some comfy clothes
- If you can, working from your bed could be a great idea! Make it as comfortable as you possibly can with lots of pillows and blankets
- Light a candle
- Make yourself a cup of tea




Set priorities
You are most likely not going to be as productive as normal while you are sick. So setting priorities is a great way to make sure to get the most urgent things done first. Check your calendar and deadlines and see which tasks you must do and can't ignore even if you are sick.


Break up large tasks into smaller ones
Now that you decided your priorities, try to break them down into smaller tasks as it will be easier for you to focus on them and get them done properly. Make a list with the individual steps for each big task.
Take breaks
It is hard to focus while being sick, so in order to not feel burnt out, take more breaks that you usually would. For example, work for 25 minutes and take a 5 minute break. That way you keep your mind fresh.


Reward yourself
You should do this even when you are not sick! Reward yourself after finishing a big task you had to get done. Feel proud that you accomplish so much even during a sick day!
Accept the fact that you are sick
I know this article is about being productive while sick, but thinking that you will be able to be as productive as you usually are, it is silly. Try to make the best out of your day, but don't punish yourself for lacking a little. You can't expect to get a lot of things done while you are not at your best condition. Keep your expectations reasonable.
Don't forget to take care of yourself
Don't ignore the fact that you are not feeling well. Make sure to take care of yourself so that you can get better soon.
- Open your windows to get some natural light
- Get some fresh air
- Sleep and nap a lot
- Stay hydrated and drink a lot of tea
- Pamper yourself
