How long will it take to listen
to the screams of a mother
to the protesters knocking at your door
how long until something is done about
the drills don't feel like drills
the momentary leap you hear
when the earsplitting noise
overtakes the checkered halls rattling off the dull red lockers
how long until
you realize you cannot place a value on lives
you stop taking money from those hating change
and realize we are not another payday
to sink into an ever bankrupt company
