Have you ever felt like you wanted to escape and live the life you see on WHI? Well that's exactly how my husband and I felt after our wedding in France and honeymoon around Europe last June.

A few images of our travels!

With thoughts of travel on our mind we're beginning to wonder how realistic it is to live a traditional suburban life and travel as much as we want. I'm not sure if you guys know this about me, but I am 100% the type of person who believes where there's a will there's a way...If you can't get in the front door go though the back....well you get the idea. Anyway, I started to look into alternative lifestyles and I want to share how amazing they can be! I truly believe we are all meant to live our best lives no matter how off the beaten path it might be.

As you can see from the pictures above we are looking at the idea of living in an Airstream! Of course living in one of these babies means dramatically downsizing our life, but what you get in return is the opportunity to travel America, Canada, and even Mexico. In addition you are able to head off to amazing destinations and store the Airstream with family (which is free) or in a storage unit while you're off exploring the rest of the world. Which is just amazing! The best part! If you are a pet parent like we are you can take your furry friend on all of your travels with you and they'll always have a familiar place to relax.

So with that said, I guess I can get into discussing the more practical part of the article. When you're looking into this lifestyle there's a few things you'll notice really quickly.

1. Price- That is the cost to buy the Airstream, renovate, cost of living, & tuck to haul the trailer. Realistically you don't want to get into too much debt, and the best option is to pay it off as quickly as possible. I did find that the trailer itself can be very cheap especially if you buy it gutted, but one word of caution...Inspect before you buy or even get a professional to do it. This can save you tons of money!

2.Space- This issue deals with space of living, lifestyle changes, and sacrificing on either function or style. Coming into this lifestyle your must be ok with the fact that, you will have to get rid of or store most of your things. There will be limited bathroom space as well as Kitchen, bedroom, and living space. Essentially you live in a tin pod. Which means things get Cluttered FAST! Especially when you're looking at sharing less than 300 sq. ft. I did find some amazing women who customize trailers and their work is beautiful! They're called themoderncaravan on Instagram and well see for your self......

This is an example of Isla! My favorite so far!

3. Sorting out how to live off grid- meaning finding a state you want to live in, getting a mailing address, going paperless, insurance and other life issues like this. There are plenty of articles and YouTube videos on this issues, so it's not terribly difficult to get it organized but it does require some research.

4. Family- This issue deals with having to stay with family while your "home" is being renovated or possibly after to help keep costs down while you pay it off. There's also the issue of having children in that small of a space. Luckily none of this is that bad, and if you don't believe me take a look at these inspiring small spaces for kids!

All in all, I do feel that this lifestyle is worth the time and money, especially when you consider how much a traditional American home runs for these days. You can be potentially cutting down a lifetime of debt! The reward you receive is experience, fulfilling wanderlust, and actually living life instead of just hearting, pinning, or scrolling through posts of it. Its said that love grows best in small spaces and I for one agree.

I hope this post inspires someone to live their best life no matter what that might be.

XOXO,

Happy Hearting!
