The Mortal Instruments- Cassandra Clare

This is my all time favorite series. I read it quite a few years ago and I haven't found a series I love quite as much. The characters in this series are so hilarious and intriguing. The love story and magic aspects of this book series, combined with the action makes this series to die for. I applaud Cassandra Clare for her creativity in creating a secret world that merges with the human world so effortlessly. The main characters face their share of hardships while going along their journey throughout this series and it's not an easy feat.

Caster Chronicles- Kami Garcia

This series starts with the Beautiful Creatures book, which this series is better known by. This series is my most recent read and I loved every page. I blew through this series and after years of my best friend suggesting it to me I was astonished to find out how much I loved it. I'm a sucker for magic and love stories, which I'm sure you'll notice as I go through this list, and this series hit the mark. The magic aspects of this series were unique and always keeping me on my toes.

Legend- Marie Lu

Once again this book series has an amazing love story! While it has absolutely no magic in it, you're on the edge of your seat for the entirety of the series. It offers an immense amount of drama, suspense, and action. The two main characters come from two different backgrounds, yet they're both equally talented and ready to do what they think is right and fight for what they believe in. Another theme you'll see in the books I like are an alternate reality or society, which is the setting for this series.

Red Queen- Victoria Aveyard

I am absolutely in love with this series! The last book in this series comes out this summer and I'm practically counting down the days until it's released. Obviously if I love this series it has to have an epic love story. I became so attached to the characters throughout this series that I full on bawled at the end of the third book, so hopefully the last one will resolve my issues. This series also takes place in an alternate society with a very different way of life than modern America, but nonetheless our main characters rebel against the corruptions in their society. It is a gripping series that I am head over heels for and I'm sure you will be too!

Lorien Legacies- Pittacus Lore

The last book on this list surprisingly doesn't revolve around a love story, nor does it take place in an alternate society. While it does feature characters that originated from another planet (and no it's not some cheesy alien series) it takes place in the modern world. There are ten teens that have powers, or legacies as they're called in this series, that originated form the planet Lorien. They can only be killed in the order of their number (1 through 10), each one is given a number. Also, they're being hunted by Mongadorians from their rival planet. This series revolves around the teens and how they fight for their lives, earth, and everything they hold dear.
