We all experience times of self-doubt, sadness, confusion and loneliness. Everyone has their own perspective when approaching moments like this—because we all experience them–and have own coping mechanisms. Feeling sad and confused and just burn out is normal, but when we find ourselves in these moments, it feels like this is how life will be for eternity. To know what you do want you must know what it is you do not want. Contrast helps us to make these decisions. That's why it's important for us to know how to deal with these overwhelming feelings, so we don't end up using harmful tactics to occupy that not so pleasant time.

Here's a list of things that you can do when you feel the haze descending on your mind:

Get yourself outside. Whenever I start to feel extra overwhelmed, taking a few moments to go outside and center myself really helps. Doing something simple like going to the supermarket for groceries, walking your pet, getting coffee with a friend, reading a book at your porch or balcony, or just walking the streets makes a huge impact on your mood and brings you back down to Earth.

Grab your laptop or phone and search for some stretching videos. You've most likely been sitting all day so move your body. You don't need to do nothing extreme so forget about cardio. Do couple of streches, you'd be surprised how therapeutic it can be. Breathe a lot and super deep and don't forget to breathe through everything just so you can stay ALIVE :)

Paint your nails. It doesn't require a lot of brain work. I you can't afford a professional manicure and happen to be someone who constantly feels like they need to be productive all the time and can never truly relax, this is definitely something you should try.

Lay on the ground, close your eyes, open up Spotify and play some music! There's nothing better than listening to new music and discovering amazing songs to play over and over again.

Try out a meditation app. Meditation has been something I've been recently getting into. It works wonders for mental clarity and mindfulness. Youtube also has some amazing meditation/ ASMR videos that are specific to your needs. It's seriously so relaxing.

Bake something from scratch. Don't half ass it, don't use a mix, make it fully homemade. Don't be afraid to get flour on your face. Fill up your kitchen with that wonderful aroma. It's such a nice activity that makes you focus on something really simple but rewarding.

Invest in a diffuser! One of the best uses for essential oils is their ability to help you unwind at the end of a hard day. Set it on the bedside table to help your mind and body relax so you can sleep better at night. Recommended oils: chamomile, lavender, clary sage.

Buy a notebook and start journaling. Journaling is probably one of the best ways to ease an active mind. Sometimes an area of your life needs a closer look and by writing things down it's easier to map it out so that you can organize your feelings and align with what you desire.

Do something that doesn't involve social media. I used to have really bad morning anxiety and nothing made it worse than grabbing my phone to mindlessly scroll. Getting yourself to do something that doesn't involve social media allows your mind to float off and do whatever it wants. Take care of yourself. Clean your sheets. Shower, wash your hair and exfoliate.

When in doubt, start something new! This can be anything that you've been thinking about doing for a while. Plan something out of the ordinary. Go on an adventure. Go on a bike ride, visit a friend. Just breaking routine will make you feel a little less caught up in your own head and a little more thankful for the sun and the trees and water.
