Warning: if you have to pay for your internet on your phone and don't read this while using wifi, close this article right now. This article contains a shit-ton of gifs and I don’t want you to lose all your credit for this month with one simple article, okay? :)

Hi everybody and welcome to this article! I came across an article about Loving Vincent yesterday, and I was reminded of this amazing film, so I wanted to write about it for a bit. Here’s that article if you want to check it out:

There’s also a brief explanation of what the movie is about in there, so I definitely think you should give it a read!

What I wanna do today is give some appreciation for the movie, especially as it has been nominated for an Oscar for “best animated movie”. So, first some info for you: the film is about Vincent van Gogh’s life and what he’s been through, up onto his tragic ending. The most impressive part of this movie is that every frame is an artwork in itself. No but really, the movie is 65.000 photographed paintings, played after each other. This translates to 1/12 second of screen time for every perfect painting the team of 125 classical-trained artists had created.

How? Well, a live-action cast acted out scenes, while their movements were filmed with green screens in the background. Then those frames would be painted over by an artist, and good wasn’t good enough, only perfect would suffice, as every brushstroke would be visible in theatres. About two-thirds of all the paintings had a reference from live-action footage. The painters could also draw reference to original Vincent painting because the film was supposed to look like the artist's actual paintings after all. Furthermore, every scene in the movie has an actual painting from Vincent as a base! You might recognize these paintings when you end up watching the film or give a look at the trailer. This movie has obviously been a great effort to make, but then again, it’s never been done before. It’s the very first film ever to be a feature film that’s completely oil painted.

Without a doubt, this movie will be unlike any other you’ve ever seen.

More info on how it's made:

That was the context, so now onto the next part of this article, the part I originally wanted to do. I’ve been coming across many beautiful gifs from the movie, and I wanted to share those with you today! Hopefully, with more info on the movie, you’ll appreciate them as much as they deserve to be appreciated.

Gifs in full screen, accompanied with his quotes here and there, so enjoy!
