Hey guys! Sorry it's been a while since I've done, well, anything on here. As some of you may know I'm in college, which means I'm busy ALL THE TIME. I really love it and it's totally worth it, but it allows me very little time to just relax and hang out with you guys. I'm also in a sorority, and recruitment (rush) week just ended so I am back with some new articles and posts for you guys.
I'm gonna be honest with you guys. I've been a little down in the dumps lately. I just feel tired and unmotivated and anxious a lot, which is something I've worked very hard for the last year and a half to keep at bay. So that led me to wonder, what's a good way to combat the bad vibes and bring in the new? Visualizing a routine I can handle that works for me, and hopefully, works for you.

Step 1: Waking Up Early

I know, I know. Some of us are not early birds. But I am. I love mornings! They're a time for new chances and a new start each day. I'd rather go to bed at 10 and wake up at 6 to study than go to bed at 4 am studying all night. And studies show that waking up and seizing the day actually helps one focus more, be more awake, more fulfilled, and energized for the day ahead. My first class is at 9, so I'm going to try to wake up around 6 and stretch, work out, shower and take my time to fully get ready in the morning.

Step 2: Brush Teeth and Hair and Wash Face

I'm gonna be honest with you- the hardest thing for me in keeping a routine is washing my face. A lot of times I forget, or get lazy, or get home late or wake up late and just...don't do it. But it's important and it helps your skin and helps you feel energized. You don't need anything fancy from Lush or wherever, using even just simple water will do your skin a world of good.

Step 3: Exercise and Eat Right

I know. It can be hard sometimes. If you have a full class load, you don't want to spend any of your precious free time hitting the gym. But did you know going to the gym really does make you more motivated, energetic and even happier? It releases hormones and chemicals that really do make you feel your best. You don't need to have a gym membership or some fancy HIIT plan, just doing some cardio or other basic exercises really can do a world of good.
As for eating right, I'm not saying you can't have that piece of cake. What I am saying is that you should also incorporate fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats and proteins as a majority of your diet. Remember, if you put good in you get good out. Just remember that chemicals and fake foods don't belong in your body- but a treat every now and then is nothing to be ashamed of. But your body will thank you for nourishing it properly by healing your skin, giving you energy, and cleaning the inside and outside of your body. Food can be delicious and extremely beneficial!

Step 4: Do Something Creative

Write in a journal. Paint a canvas. Design a dress. Create a blog post. Go to a park and take pictures with your friends. Whatever it is that you do, make sure it's fun, creative, and stimulating. This will keep you grounded, energized, and closer to your friends, yourself, the world, and your inner mind. Sometimes you just need to take a break and do something for you, and just for you. Get to know yourself. I'm sure you're pretty wonderful.

Step 5: Get Plenty of Sleep

Staying up until two in the morning will do you no good. It will make you tired, groggy and less alert. Teens and young adults need the most sleep out of any age bracket, so make sure you get your zzzs!

So those are some routines I'm going to try to enforce with myself, because I love myself, and I think it's time I start taking care of her. What do you guys think? Are you going to embark on a self care journey too? Tell me about yours! My inbox is always open and I love hearing from you.

xoxo,
Danielle
