I dream, a lot. Usually, I can remember at least one dream per night. But what do these often strange nightly events mean? Even though most psychologists and scientists accept dreams and their meanings as unsolved mysteries, there are some extremely common dreams that we all keep having. I listed six of them.

1. Falling

We all know the feeling. You experience falling for a long time and the moment you hit the ground, you wake up. These dreams are extremely vivid and frightening. Dream expert Lauri Loewenberg calls this dream a "red flag from your subconscious." It implies that you are having a problem in your life that you feel insecure and anxious about. You have lost control about something in your life that needs to be corrected.

2. Being chased

In dreams where you are being chased, you could be running from an attacker, an animal, a monster or some unknown figure who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. Fight or flight is an instinctive response to a physical threat in the environment. There is not one explanation for this dream. You could be running away from yourself, or you could be suffering from anxiety in your waking life. Or the dream is supposed to encourage the dreamer to finally face a problem that has been hanging over his or her head.

3. Teeth falling out

An other frequently occurring dream is a dream where the teeth of the person experiencing the dream are falling out. This dream can reflect that you are uncertain about your appearance and how others perceive you. It is supposedly a sign that something happened in the dreamer’s life that has caused him or her to lose confidence.

4. Naked in public

You are on your way to school when you realize that you are not dressed and you feel incredibly embarrassment. The experts agree that this dream represents vulnerability and anxiety. This dream is “common to people who have accepted a promotion, gone off to a new job, or who are coming into public view.”

5. Unprepaired for an exam

This dream is a recurring one for perfectionists. These exam dreams can be so realistic that you wake up convinced that you just failed an important test. These dreams reflect a lack of confidence and inability to advance to the next stage of life. At least one out of five people experience this dream in their lives.

6. Flying

Personally, I love these kind of dreams. If you are like me and enjoy these dreams, the dream is encouraging to let go of current issues and allow things to ”fall naturally into place.”
