All throughout the past year there has been MANY emotions that I went through. And each time I went through one of those feelings, I had a song to accompany me through it. Ranging from fast raps when I'm hyped or angry to bopping EDM for when I'm just feeling really happy. Some of these songs are not in English, but I truly think that music can be a universal language and even though I don't understand some without having to look up the lyrics, I still highly enjoy these songs.

  • So first of all, an absolute BOP that never gets old: Undercover Martyn by Two Door Cinema Club.
  • Next, a beautiful track that inspires me: I Want To Feel Alive by The Lighthouse And The Whaler.
  • Some EDM that makes me want to dance and feel light on my toes: Hold On - Radio Edit by Moguai, Cheat Codes.
  • A pop song that I'm sure caused a lot of impulsiveness: Weak by AJR
  • Although I know it's an older song, I still love it and cannot help jamming out to it when it comes on: Gasolina by Daddy Yankee
  • Another dancing song: Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee
  • An instrumental song from the anime, Yuri On Ice, : La Parfum de Fleurs will always calm me.
  • Another instrumental from Yuri On Ice, Almavivo will always get me moving and wishing that I didn't stop playing the trumpet in 8th grade.
  • Stand by Me remake by Florence and the Machine will always almost make me cry and make me want to scream the lyrics when I listen to it.
  • I had also listened to video game soundtracks and OST from anime. It had included: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Yuri On Ice, Hunter x Hunter, Attack on Titan, and Boku no Hero Academia
  • My absolute favorite piano song to this date, Yuri on Ice. It's the most beautiful piece that I've heard and it actually made my mom cry when she listened to it.
  • Killing Me Soflty With His Song by Roberta Flack will no doubt make you listen to the story said through the lyrics and understand them while you try to sing along.
  • This song always got me deep into my feelings and reminded me of a vine edit that I used to love: I Found by Amber Run
  • I think this song was in my top 5. It has a good beat, good lyrics, and it just sounds beautiful and inspiring and I screamed when i found out it was finally put on Spotify: History Maker - by Dean Fujioka
  • Although I can't remember these three songs well, they were there for me for the first half of 2017: Secrets by OneRepublic, Rangers by Larz Randa, and Light by San Holo
  • I also spent a good amount of this year in a vehicle so of course I'm going to mention CDs:

- Best of Queen this CD is just the greatest to listen to on trips with your family because you can sing along to Bohemian Rapshody and then switch to a song all about bycicles.

- Guardians of the Galaxy Mix Volume 1 is also great for trips and for a bit of lost nostalgia with songs such as, Hooked On A Feeling and Escape(The Piña Colada Song)

- Another great CD is the Moana OST. I was obsessed with that soundtrack for a good two months and could never resist the drumming beats of those songs.

and then I got into the K-pop group known as BTS at the end of June and haven't been listening to anything else since then

Just kidding, I got into even more k-pop and just recently got back into American pop.

I will be making another article about the BTS and k-pop songs that helped me throughout this year.

I'll go ahead and continue with the American pop I recently got into.

  • Of course, Gucci Gang by Lil Pump. All it really did was get me hype.
  • Imagine Dragon's Thunder had given me that alternative calm vibe I needed every now and then.
  • The chill sound of Havana by Camila Cabello was good for when I wanted to relax.
  • Young Dumb and Broke by Khalid is relatable and has good lyrics and a good beat.
  • I also got into some of Post Malone's music. I Fall Apart is my favorite.
  • I'm going to go ahead and add Mic Drop by BTS, Steve Aoki, and Desiigner since it's mostly in English and I want to promote my boys.
  • AND one guy from BTS, RM, collabed with Fall Out Boy in a remix of their song Champion and I absolutely love his rap.

Well that wasn't even all the songs I could list but those were the most memorable to me. I hope you enjoy the list I made and check out these songs and my other article I'll be making on k-pop songs!
