Whenever a new year is coming up, I really love to reflect on the year I've lived through, and plan a bit of the next one. In December, I do a lot of journaling, writing things down before the new year. I like to be prepared for the upcoming year and know what I want from it. So here are some ideas of what you can journal before 2018 starts!

Yearly goals is usually a simple journal idea where you write down things you want to achieve in 2018. It doesn't have to be a lot. You can divide the page into 4 part, each portraying a quarter of a year, and write down ideas in the part for a particular quarter when you want to achieve those goals.

Resolutions are different because yearly goals are more materialistic. Resolutions usually have to do with habits that you want to start or get rid of. Mine, for instance, is pretty simple - drink more water, stretch every day, write more and keep thoughts under control.

Here's a wonderful article by @yoitsmia about resolutions, how to come up with them, and how to accomplish them!

A bucket list is a perfect way to figure out things you want to do/get/try in 2018. I make bucket lists every year in the same notebook and it's amazing how by the end of the year you accomplish so much of them without even realizing it. Some of the points in my bucket lists are to get braces, get 2K on Instagram and get into horseriding!

This is something I've come up with myself. I wrote a letter thanking this year for all the ups and downs and the things I was taught. I found this a very nice way to reflect on the year and see how much it has taught you. This is the first time I've done this, but I'm pretty sure I'll be doing it this year too.

Hello there is something I have come across on the internet a few years ago, and I've been doing it ever since. Basically what you do is write 'Hello there' as a title and then list down these sentences:

I am
I keep
I wish I could
I love
I dance
I sing
I think
I really
I need
I should
I can
I like
I always

And then you just finish those sentences! It's such a great idea, I do this every year and it really helps me see how much I changed as a person throughout the year!

To be honest, I have never done this but it sounds like an amazing idea. What you do is write a word that you want to describe your next year with big letters and kind of just decorate the page. It's a great way to be more aware of what you want from the next year. It can be any word like happy, bold, fearless, peaceful, etc.

Writing letters to either your future or past self is always a very healing process. I prefer writing letters to my future self so that I read them next December and reflect on all the things I once thought and wanted. Very often, my ambitions change, but my goal stays pretty much the same. Try that and see how much your ideas and goals change throughout the year!

This is pretty much it so far! If you are as excited for 2018 as I am and if you love journaling I'm pretty sure this article will be useful! Check out my previous article here:
