I was used to going to bed at 3am and sleeping in until 12pm...
I was under a habit I knew I no longer wanted to continue. As someone who does online school it was very easy for me to continue this habit for as long as I did. I decided one day that enough was enough and to start to love being a morning person! Here are some TIPS for you to become a morning person!

You really have to want to do this because, if your not interested in truly becoming a morning person... you'll most likely never follow through with it.

Ask yourself what your reason is to wanting to become a morning person? Is it because you have to go to school, work, gym..? What is your reason for getting up.
For me, it was simply because I couldn't remember the last time I saw the sun rise. I also wanted to feel productive and have more time to get stuff done throughout my day!

Find three things that you will look forward to doing in the morning! This can be simply having a cup of tea or coffee, checking your horoscope, taking a hot shower, watching the sunrise, taking a walk out in nature, blogging...There are many things you can look forward to in the morning! For me, sometimes its picking out a super cute outfit the night before, I get really excited to wear it in the morning! Even picking out a hairstyle to try, makeup look and of course treating myself to Starbucks will get me out of bed!

This is a very important tip, we probably all know this but its easier said then done... Getting enough sleep and going to bed earlier! To become a morning person you need to feel rested because if you don't, your just going to hit the snooze button and fall right back to sleep. The recommended amount of rest a person should be having is between 8-10 hours. So, take a relaxing bath, drink that chamomile tea, read a book, turn off your phone, close your eyes and count from 100 backwards. Get that rest in so you can wake up feeling energized!

If you can cold turkey go into a whole new sleep pattern, then props to you! If your like me and you need to slowly adjust to a new schedule then I recommend starting a little at a time. Going to bed 15 min earlier each night and waking up 15 minutes earlier each day until you have the perfect sleep schedule for you!

The first thing that you will wake up to is your alarm clock so have it at a song you enjoy, this will help set your mood in the morning. Positive affirmations are also a great way to set your mood. Telling yourself things like, "Today I choose to be positive!", "I am a morning person!" and "I can do anything I set my mind to!"... A positive mental attitude affirmed by POSITIVE affirmations will help you achieve success in anything! You can become a morning person!

Try out the 5 seconds method by Mel Robbins.
You basically count back from 5...So, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, !!!!! Blastoff....
That's basically how she describes it. As soon as you hit 1, you jolt out of bed and get on your feet just like a rocket.
You literally just get up, no matter what, you just do it after you say 1. I tried this at first and it really works!!!

Drinking a glass of water will wake you up! As soon as you get up, drink 16oz (2 cups) of water. Your body has had no liquids for essentially around 8 hours and is dehydrated! When you are dehydrated you feel sluggish, which makes you want to shut your eyes and fall back to sleep. Get those fluids in! Note: Drink in sips. Sometimes, people will feel sick after drinking water in the morning...this is because you are having to use a lot of energy in your large organs, drink in sips and if you don't feel inspired enough to drink plain water, add some fruit!

Certain smells can wake you up in the morning! Breathing natures air, smelling the freshly rained on earth, smelling things that stimulate the brain to be activated! Using essential oils to wake me up has become an essential in my morning routine!
Smells that will wake you up: Sweet Orange, Peppermint, Lemon, Grapefruit, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Coffee, Ginger Mint and Jasmine.

My favorite tip and last tip is to start your day with some meditation! Meditation can put your body in a very happy and calm state.
What are some ways to mediate? You can meditate traditionally by sitting with your eyes closed, completely relaxed and being in the present moment. Other ways to mediate are by writing in a journal, listening to music, reading a book, taking a walk outside in nature, mediation is to be in the present moment. It is whatever your doing that makes you be in the present moment and in a positive state of mind!
