Not only do you help others by volunteering you also help yourself.

If you are thinking about getting started or have never even thought about it, here are some reasons why you should volunteer!

I have volunteered in all sorts of areas hospitals, gardens, schools and internationally. They all have their differences but the same common idea. YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! It may be with animals, people or the environment but at the end of the day it all helps.

Don't be scared! I know how daunting it can be volunteering alone. You won't know anyone and you might muck up but don't worry we all make mistakes! If you are still hesitant try bringing a friend or family member along? Even it's just for the first week or volunteering session it might put your mind at ease.

Also people want as much help as they can get. You aren't doing anything wrong. You are helpful and an asset.

Remember it doesn't have to be something as big as international volunteering abroad teaching children English. It can be simple. Volunteer at a local youth group or charity cafe. If that isn't up your street there will sure be national parks and animal shelters wanting help too.

Volunteering will also help you! It gives you a purpose if you are lacking one, helps you make friends and feel like you are giving something back. Also sometimes you can even get extra qualifications and goodies from it depending on where you volunteer!
