"I really loved you that much, you know," he said.

She smiled, hiding the bittersweet taste behind her lips.
"Maybe," she thought. "Maybe in a parallel universe he wouldn't say that."

He stared into space, though he wished to stare at her. "Loved. I could've said that I still do love her," he mused. "I couldn't."

"Loved." The word kept repeating inside her head.

She was shattered. He didn't mean it.
He was broken. She didn't mean it.
