it’s your eyes burning at 10 AM when you’re sitting in class, wishing you were anywhere but here. it’s your head pounding at noon when your friends are laughing at the lunch table without you. it’s your feet, plodding down the hallway at the end of the day when you can finally leave.
but it doesn’t end. you get home and you can’t sleep because there’s homework to do, and people to take care of, and you can’t stand your mum yelling about how you never do anything productive anymore. you say you’ll hold out until 11:00, because that seems like a reasonable time for a 14-year-old to go to bed.
yet, you still find yourself wide-eyed at 3:26 AM, licking the tears off your lips as you pray for it all to end.
