So today I want to talk about something I’ve been trying to take as a habit since a long time ago. I've been on this journey for a while so I definitely learned a couple of things I want to share with you. This way it will be easier for you.

So here are five advices that will help you reach your fitness goal.

1. Knowledge is power

I’m pretty sure at least one of your teachers has told you this before. It is true, and believe it or not it applies even at working out. The first thing you should do before starting at the gym or doing exercise at home is doing a research. Read about the topic; look for routines, tips and recommendations. You need to know what is healthy and what is not. Find out the right way to do each exercise and learn about injuries and how to avoid them. Once you have read a lot, you can start.

2. Just Do It

Nike’s slogan can seem simple and boring, but you should definitely listen to it. When it’s about working out finding excuses can be as easy as the ABC. “I’m too busy”, “I have to work”, “I have to study”, “It’s raining outside”, and “I have a head ache”. The list goes on and on, it never comes to an end. So my advice? Shut up and just do it. Forget about excuses; don’t spend two hours looking for motivational quotes on the internet. Just don’t think too much and do it.

3. Discipline and Constancy

Starting a routine –believe it or not– is the easiest part of starting a healthy lifestyle. In my experience, the hard work comes when you need to keep going. When a month passes by you start to get tired of it. Your mind fills with excuses again: you’re tired, you’re busy or you just don’t want to do it. Here is when discipline and constancy take place. Even when you prefer staying in bed watching movies you need to stand up and work out. Why do you think people get to go to the Olympics? Discipline. You have to keep going. Again, just do it. If you give up now what you achieved so far will be worth nothing –even if you don’t see changes yet, they are in there– and you’ll have to start all over again.

4. Keep your eyes on the prize

This is a perfect way to have discipline and keep going. The first step is setting your goals. Think about the reasons you are doing this and the things you want to reach. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to run 10km without fading? Do you want toned legs? Whatever your goal is always keep it in mind. It totally works, trust me. The days I’m feeling most tired, the days I just don’t want to do it, I think about the body I want to have in the future. I imagine the level of confidence I will reach, the way clothes will look on me and how people will gaze at me. Immediately then I want to work out.

5. Be patient

Some people think this works as magic. I wish, but that’s not the true. As they say, Rome wasn’t built on a day and great things take time. Don’t frustrate and leave because you don’t see changes. If you’re cheating on your routines then don’t expect them to work. If you are working hard you will see result with the time. Just strive and keep going. Be patient, this is a lifestyle.
