From very young age I was greatly inspired by Emma Watson (who you may know from Harry Potter movies). At some point I have discovered that she is a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women which basically means that she stands for women rights all around the world. Seeing one of her speeches that she gave in September 2014 I felt like I was meant to hear it since it changed my point of view profoundly.

Firsty, I had a wrong view of the matter. Now, you can call me uneducated, but while growing up I thought that being a feminist is basically being against men and that it was directly connected with men hate. I was clearly wrong. Now, I want you to wonder... Just wonder. Is there a slightest chance you thought in a similar way? If the answer is yes, then I can assure you we are not the only ones. If the answer is no - well done, girl! But this is what should change around women, I think. We should be informed properly so that we could understand what the term really means because feminism was, is, and will be a big part of our lives. At least it should be at this point.

According to Emma Watson: "[...] feminism by definition is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes."
It is as simple as that. I do not undersand how could I be so misled into thinking that feminism has anything to do with men hate. I feel ashamed. I am a woman after all. I should know that feminism means first and foremost equality.

I think the fault is in our environment. From childhood we are being taught that women cannot stand closely to men in any kind of domain. Women cannot compare to those who are, by definition, stronger. Women are supposed to be fragile, vulnerable and quiet. NO MORE!!! We are taught that 'feminism' is a dangerous word to say out loud. Because if we say it, it means that we rebel against all the universally accepted truths. Because if we say it, it means that women finally realize the truth that's been hidden for so long.

Women are strong. Women are the ones who give life to other generations. Finally, women equals life.
It works both ways. Men do not have to be so tough all the time. Men can be sensible too.
As Emma says: "If men don’t have to be aggressive in order to be accepted, women won’t feel compelled to be submissive. If men don’t have to control, women won’t have to be controlled".

Throughout the course of my life I would hear: "I am a feminist, so I will never have a boyfriend", or "If you do not have a husband and children, you do not have the right to call yourself a woman".
Now, this is a message to all of you who, as me, had the wrong notions of the word "feminism". Your body is only yours - use it well, do not let anyone tell you what to do with it. Do not search for love because someone says you already should have found it, it will come to you in time. Do not hate men for not understanding you, it is possible they feel as puzzled as you do. Finally, treat every girl as your sister, even if you know she will never be your best friend. We should all be united in this. We should all fight for our rights. WE SHOULD ALL BE FEMINISTS.
