HEYYYYYYYY! It’s Kim and I’m back with this week’s edition of Songs of the Week! As always, I will link the video to each song below the description and I hope you guys enjoy :)

1. “80’s Films” by Jon Bellion ***SONG REQUEST***

”Just like the 80’s films, we’ll hook up in the backseat and let my best friend drive...”

This first song was actually a song request made by @stardustlida! Thanks for the request. :) “80’s Films” is by Jon Bellion, as stated in the title and you’ve most likely heard of his song “All Time Low.” You know, the lyrics that go “...I’m at an all time low, low, low, low…” To be honest, I was never able to get into this song and really like it, no matter how many times I listened to it. I’m not a huge fan of Jon Bellion to begin with, in fact, I didn’t even know that he was the one who wrote “All Time Low” until maybe about a month ago. It’s just because of my music taste and preferences at this point. Hopefully, my opinion won’t turn you off from listening to it and forming your own opinion on the song (and hopefully no Jon Bellion fans will send me angry messages), so here’s the link!

2. “Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man.

”Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks now, I been feeling it since 1966 now…”

Portugal. The Man. is a band consisting of three guys. You’re probably thinking, “Uhh why is that fact relevant?” The answer is that I didn’t know that a guy was singing “Feel It Still” at first. I’m serious. I thought a girl was singing it because the voice was so high pitched. I listened to this song once last month and didn’t really think much about it until I was sitting in English class doing group work on Tuesday and for some reason the one thing going through my head was “Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks now, I been feeling it since 1966 now…” and I realized that it was a guy singing it the entire time. Oh well. It’s still a good song, I highly recommend it.

3. “home” by morgxn

”I’m going back home to the place where I belong, there’s nothing like it…”

Thank goodness for Spotify and the Discover tab, because that’s where I found this song. I’ve heard of morgxn before, but never really took the time to listen to their music, and so I found “home” on Spotify and decided to give it a try. You know those songs that you instantly fall in love with as soon as the song starts playing and you say to yourself, “Wow...I LOVE IT!” This song was that song for me. I was instantly hooked by the bass line starting the song, and when it becomes prominent again in the chorus. This has become a favorite for me this week.

4. “Better Days” by Hedley

”Better days, better days, are not so far away…”

I found this video under my YouTube recommended, and I was curious, as I never heard of the artist before. I listened to it, and it’s an inspiring song about looking forward to the future and how better days are coming. The past might’ve been bad, but it shouldn’t be the one thing that defines you. You have your entire future ahead of you to make a change and make things better.

5. “Super Far” by LANY

”Got me begging for affection, all you do is roll your eyes, broken down and out of love, if this isn’t love, then I don’t want it…”

I know, I know, this song is one of LANY’s more popular songs and I’m being kind of mainstream here. In my defense, my favorite song from them is “Flowers On The Floor.” The song is about the singer not getting any love from his girlfriend. He’s trying more than her to keep the relationship going, as if she’s taking his love for granted. She knows that he loves her and that he’s going to be there for her, so it’s like she doesn’t have to try anymore to keep him. This song came up a lot on my playlist this week for whatever reason, and it reminded me of how much I really like LANY. :)

Thank you for reading my Songs of the Week article! Hopefully you found a new favorite song. :) I think I came through with my promise of putting more Alternative music in this week’s article for this week haha. If you have any song requests, feel free to send me a message with your song request. I mean, you can always just send me a message just to say hi or to talk to me about anything. I always answer back, although I may not immediately because I might be in school (there’s really bad reception in some of the classrooms) or I’m busy doing homework or applying to colleges (YIKES). But in general, I always answer back.
