As a bookworm, I litteraly enjoy reading any kind of books. Here are some reasons why reading can be beneficial for you:

1. Stress reduction

After a day full of stress, a book can calm you down and you can have a moment of peacefulness. Read a chapter of a book and enjoy every page of it. A good book can help you take your mind off these difficult situations. That way, you'll manage to escape reality and relax.

2. Knowledge

Any kind of book, you decide to read, will provide you with a great amount of information about a bunch of things that you never know when it might come in handy. Books are educational and they can inform you about issues that bother lots of people. Knowledge is a weapon!

3. Vocabulary expansion

The more you read, the more words you gain exposure to. Try to search for the meaning of unknown words. They will inevitable make their way to your everyday vocabulary. Being articulate will help you in your studies and in any profession since you will have knowledge about a variety of topics and that will boost your self-esteem. Also, reading is vital for learning new languages.

4. Memory improvement

When you read a specific book, you have to remember a lot of things, such as characters, backgrounds, ambitions, etc. This activity keeps your memory sharp and your learning capacity nimble.

5. Stronger analytical thinking skills

When you read a book, you form your own opinion about it, as you've taken the time to consider all the aspects involved. Critical thinking skills are essential in real life. Being able to solve a problem by putting together specific details is necessary in life.

6. Focus and concentration

Being fully engaged in a book involves closing off the outside world. Reading means that all of your attention is focused on the story and the rest of the world just falls away. Your attention span will strengthen over time.

7. Writing skills

Observing the various styles of other authors, journalists, poets and writers will eventually be reflected in your own writing style. By combining the characteristics of the styles you like, you will improve your writing skills.

8. Tranquility

Relaxation, inner peace and tranquility accompany reading a good book.

9. Entertaining value

Reading can be a chore, but it doesn't have to be. A good book can keep you amused while you develop your life skills.

10. Feeds the imagination

While you are reading, your mind creates an image in your head instead of having it placed in front of you.You are building not only images, but faces, places, colours, settings, etc. You connect all these creations and make changes as your worldview expands.

11. An escape from reality

Books are a way out of your daily life. You can forget about your problems, at least for a while.

12. Opinions and perspectives

When you read, you experience the life of someone else. There are endless perspectives and lives that you can read about. After a while you form your own opinion about the actions of the protagonist and the other characters, an opinion which accompanies you in your entire life. Futhermore, it's a relief to see that one character feels the same way as you do about an issue.

13. Discover and create yourself

After reading becomes a habit, the experiences you obtain from books, form your personality. You learn from other's mistakes and you discover what your reaction would be in certain situations. This means that your personality is developed by embracing specific ideas about life and about characteristics.

Reading is a habit worth developing. I always feel so empty if I can't find time for it.
