Hello, hello, hello, A.L. Starks here! I've decided to try out this writing challenge. The first "prompt" is to introduce yourself, so I will attempt to do that in a short post.

Firstly, I am a college student who is studying Geology. My dream is to work in the physical geology field with a special interest in volcanoes. I'd love to be a researcher in a volcanic observatory watching over one of the great monstrous volcanoes in the world. I know, it sounds scary, but to me it's the most exciting dream job I can think of that I'd not only enjoy, but want to contribute to and work hard for.

I hope to graduate in spring of 2019. I should have been graduating in fall of 2018 but I had to take a semester off for health reasons.

Secondly, I am a bookworm. Thanks to a childhood friend who introduced fantasy books to me in the first grade, I have been non-stop reading for over a decade and a half now.

My first book (the one that she gave me) was "Into the Wild" by Erin Hunter. I have kept up with the series up until the 6th book in the 6th series? ( There are a lot of books in the Warrior Cat series let me tell ya O.O' ) I owe a lot to those ladies behind the Erin Hunter name. <3

Some other big series/popular series that I have read are the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins, the Seven Realms Novels by Cinda Williams Chima (my favorite author of all time BTW), the Warrior Heir series by Chima, the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer, (I prefer her "Host" book over the Twilight series TBH), and most recently the Throne of Glass & Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.

Some other small books/series include: Firelight series, Song of the Sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell ( a personal favorite through the years ), Fallen series, Crescent series (P.C. Cast?), Eon & Eona by Allison Goodman, The Sight & Fell (the one about wolves), Hush Hush series, Scarlet, and oh so many more. Forgive me for not remembering all the author's names. </3

Thirdly, because of my giant reading appetite, I am a writer. Not just any writer, a "berserker" writer as I have been called by some friends because of the amount of writing I do and the style I choose to write in. ( I am the slightly faster version of George R.R. Martin minus some gore and sex! Haha ). Early on I attempted some fan-fictions and some solo novels but I quickly grew tired and bored of them and tossed them in the creative graveyard.

Over the last 5 and a half years (give or take some months) I have become attached to a series idea now currently titled the "Fate of Fire" series. It consists so far of 8 novels. One such novel is, thus far, over 150k words and I still have about 8 chapters to go before I call this first draft finished!

I have also come up with another series: "The Forest of Kalmera" which is about two and a half to three years old. So far I have three separate book ideas but no solid draft work has been done yet. Mostly world and character building. Both of these you can find in my collections to get a feel for their respective worlds!

I am a very creative, passionate, and loyal person. These three things: geology, reading and writing, have given me outlets for my passions, ideas, and creative energy.

Some more basic things about me: I love cats. LOVE cats. (duh) I love most animals but cats, wolves, ospreys and horses are my top favorites.

The color blue is my favorite; I like the kind of blue that isn't super dark or super bright or pale. I like the rich ocean blues. :'D Evergreen is a close second.

I am an avid watcher of Game of Thrones and many Netflix shows such as Marco Polo, Stranger Things, and any science documentaries about volcanoes. I also watch anime...I have completed all of Naruto & Naruto Shippuden and am watching Boruto at the moment. I have also watched all of Bleach ( I know I'm such a nerd ). My opinion? Both are good. o3o' You can't make me choose!

My favorite anime's have been "Yona of the Dawn" ( a must watch ), "Say I Love You", "Blue Exorcist", "One Punch Man", "My Little Monster", "Psycho Pass", "Ghost in the Shell" (1995 version) and many more. (:

I think this covers most of the important/fun things about myself. I hope you all enjoyed this little peek into who I am. I will be continuing this little challenge whenever I can. Writing is good for the soul, you know?

Until next time,
a. l. starks

This wasn't short, was it? ._."
