Hey everyone out there.

I think I'll never understand the concept of music - because it has none. Music isn't about rational thoughts and planned actions, it's about feelings and emotions. This is why we all can connect with songs, they express our feelings and emotions in a way words can not and won't ever be able to do so.

I cannot say what I like about a song or not, because I don't really know. My favourite song is Viva La Vida by Coldplay (which is also my favourite band) and if one asks me why it's my favourite song, I couldn't find an answer.

Songs have (usually) two parts: the lyrics and the melody, the instrumental part. For the first part, the lyrics, one can find an answer. We know if words express us or not. If I can relate to words, I like them. But the second part is the difficult one, the mysterious one. Of course, we can play a bunch of notes, but do we know why they sound pleasing or not? I don't think so. The harmonies and disharmonies just create feelings and emotions, out of nowhere. This part is a mystery.

Furthermore I believe that music is some sort of escape from reality. Music is a "place" where we are understood, where we have something in common, where we forget about our differences. And I like that. It's a place of freedom.

Inspired from the 30 day song challenge I have collected some songs which I really like. And of course, this list is just a snap-shot. I'll change and so does the music I like. Maybe tomorrow I'll wake up and ask myself how I could choose this song. Most of these songs are quite popular, but if you want, listen to them, I can recommend that - at least right now, in this moment, while I'm writing this.
