On WHI Talks, we're sitting down with We Heart It team members to get to know them a little better and learn more about their experience working at WHI. This week we’re chatting with Lillian, our Community & Content Strategy Manager from Pennsylvania (by way of New York).

Q: Hey Lillian! How did you come to WHI?
A: I believe I initially stumbled upon the We Heart It website some time between 2010 and 2011. I officially became a “Hearter” in 2013, and found out about the Community Coordinator role from We Heart It’s Instagram account during March 2015. We Heart It was looking for Community Coordinators in the Miami, Florida and Houston, Texas areas. Loving WHI and being curious, I decided to take a leap of faith and reached out via email to see if WHI was looking for anyone in the Philadelphia area.

They weren’t hiring in my area at the moment and said they would keep me in my mind if the opportunity arises. A few weeks go by and the WHI Community Manager at the time reaches back out to me for an interview and thought I would be a great fit for the role with my background in public relations and social media. The moral of the story is to never give up, keep your hopes high, not letting fears come in the way of striving for your dreams, because they can come true!

Q: What prompts you to create a collection? Are there specific collections you would like the WHI community to check out?
A: I really like getting organized and collections are a great tool to do just that. They make it so simple for me to locate an image on my canvas by topic - similar to creating a photo album for any specific event.

I enjoy looking at images in my “Look Book” collection because it inspires me to put together the perfect outfit for the day. It also allows me to gather all of my style thoughts into one place by hearting what screams out to me while browsing “fashion inspirations”.

I also love browsing my “Florals & Greenery” collection because there are something about flowers that give me an extra pep in my step. Especially, peonies..I looove any type of them! Florals not only brighten my mood, but also bring character into a space.

Q: Who on WHI has impressed you?
A: There’s this girl named r o s e from the city of sails (Auckland, New Zealand) and her style is very clean, chic, and timeless. She hearts a lot of fashion, beauty, nature, and home décor related images on her canvas. Her collections are crisp, vibrant, positive and make a statement; one of my personal favorites is her amour collection. You can almost feel the emotions expressed in each image (within the collection) come to life.

Q: What outside of WHI inspires you?
A: Everything beauty, fashion, lifestyle and pop culture related interests me. I am obsessed with watching beauty/fashion hauls, monthly favorites, and daily vlogs on YouTube. These ladies/families on YouTube really inspire me to step outside of my comfort zone and get creative, the only limit is yourself.

Q: Since you’re very much into fashion, who is your style crush?
A: I really love fashion and lifestyle blogger, Julie Sariñana. Her blog and brand goes by Sincerely, Jules. She’s a fashion enthusiast/globe trotter and the imagery she captures is amazing. Julie has a really creative eye and the places she travels to and clothing she wears inspire me. Even though what she captures is fancy and luxurious, I enjoy recreating those styles in a budget-friendly way.

Q: Can you tell us some of your interests, hobbies, or musical tastes?
A: Reality TV shows are my guilty pleasure, you can say I'm totally obsessed with The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise. As for music, I used to be soley into pop music, but have since expanded my interests and now listen to a mix of genres. I really like the songwriter and up and coming artist, Bebe Rexah, who has done popular collaborations with well-known musicians and songwriters. She was a vocalist in Black Cards (a band created by Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz) and is now working on her solo career. Bebe completed her first headlining tour earlier this year and is now launching part 3 of her most recent album All Your Fault. A one of a kind voice, totally worth the listen.

Check out the article I wrote about Bebe and her amazing music:

Q: What kinds of playlists do you gravitate towards?
A: I usually love listening to playlists with 90's pop and R&B, today's top 100 hits, and music that has yet to hit mainstream radio. 90's music gives me childhood vibes and makes me reminisce about growing up as a huge N*SYNC and Mandy Moore fan. It just puts me in the mood for a good night of karaoke..that's for sure!

Q: What are your career interests and how have your goals evolved over time?
A: During high school, I got accepted into an organization called The Academy of Finance, which is a nationally recognized business program for high school students. I felt so accomplished because only 60 juniors were accepted into the program each year. The program preps you for a career in business whether it is accounting, finance, banking or marketing.

I decided to major in accounting during college because my parents thought it would be a stable career for me. I interned for a private business management/accounting firm that specialized in working with famous actors/actresses and film producers for 3.5 years. My colleagues treated each other like family and the company perks were amazing, but I just didn't feel like it was the right career path for me. There wasn't much room for creativity.

I have a very bubbly personality and I love getting creative, whether it is creating DIY projects and/or editing. So, mid-way through college I had an epiphany that I couldn’t continue majoring in something I wasn’t personally passionate about. I ended up changing my major to corporate communications, which lead me to interning for the fashion/lifestyle department at a communications agency in New York City (representing major brands).

I learned about how much creativity goes into building a campaign and how much fun it could also be. Later on, I got an opportunity to work full-time for a boutique PR company. The skills I have gained in public relations and social media have been beneficial in a variety of other areas as well. Again, don't be afraid to follow your dreams and do what makes you happy.

Q: What are you looking forward to this fall season?
A: This autumn, I am looking forward to seeing what new beauty/fashion trends will arise. I'm sure the dark crimson lips and light flannel patterns will return to the scene.

Ahhhh, totally revisiting Linvilla Orchards in Media, Pennsylvania with my husband, their delicious apple cider and mouth-watering apple cider donuts are to die for. How could I forget about the bumpy hayrides, storybook-like pumpkin patches, changing colors of leaves, and the fun autumn activities.
