Hello, lovely people! It’s Kim again and I’m back with another one of these “Songs of the Week” articles (which I’m sure most of you are already tired of but I promised that it was going to be a weekly thing so here I am)! I’m not going to lie here, I found my “on repeat” songs very quickly this week for some reason so this article is going to be very easy for me to write! I also have a message regarding #WHITheRevolution at the end of the article, so read until the very end! Without further ado, let’s get right into the songs!

1. “1,000 Nights” by Frenship

”For a thousand nights, I’ve been a restless soul just wasting time digging up fool’s gold…”

If you’ve read every single one of my “Songs of the Week” articles, you’ll know that this is the second time I’ve featured Frenship in an article (the first time I featured them was in my very first “Songs of the Week” with their song “Capsize” featuring Emily Warren). I gotta say, this band has become one of my favorites! I love the intro to this song; it gives off a mysterious vibe to it, and then the lyrics itself add to the background music to give it a “journey” kind of vibe. The more I listened to it, the more I started to like it.

2. “Champagne and Sunshine” by PLTVNUM ft. Tarro

”All I want is champagne and sunshine, looking for a good time…”

This is a lit song to turn up to, not going to lie. The lyrics are quite explicit, and there’s literally no room for interpretation when it comes to figuring out what the singer’s singing about. It’s a good song to play at parties though. I found this song thanks to Spotify (it’s always coming in clutch hahaha) and it’s been on repeat for me for most of the week. The bass drop is pretty nice and I was dancing around my room when I heard it for the first time.

3. “Undertow” by Aotu

First things first (I’m the realest...if you still get that reference I love you lol), this song has absolutely NO lyrics. None. Nada. Zilch. Non, or however you want to say the word “none.” This is a step out of my comfort zone; I don’t really prefer music/songs that don’t have lyrics to them, but I think this song changed my mind ever so slightly. The song starts off soft with some sound effects of rain and wind at the beginning, and then it gets louder and adds violins and drums as the song goes on. At first, I was going to switch to a different song on Spotify, as it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. Then I listened to it again and I realized that it wasn’t so bad after all. :)

4. “Wildcard” by Mickey Valen ft. Feli Ferraro

“Your love is a wildcard, can’t let this go too far, I don’t know if you’ll hold me or break my heart…”

So if you can’t tell by the excerpt of the lyrics above, this song is about a girl in a relationship with a guy who doesn’t seem to show her much affection. He doesn’t like to show his emotions and she’s feeling like the relationship isn’t going to last for long. Some days he’ll be affectionate, but some days he doesn’t, which is why she says that his love is a “wildcard.” She doesn’t know if he’ll be loving or distant, and he seems to know this and he’s playing with her emotions. I can personally relate to this song which is partially why I like it.

5. “The Last of the Real Ones” by Fall Out Boy

”You’re the last of a dying breed, write our names in the wet concrete, I wonder if your therapist knows everything about me…”

I HAVE LITERALLY BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SONG TO COME OUT FOR LIKE TWO WEEKS. You guys already know about my Fall Out Boy obsession (they’ve been in most of my music articles so far, plus I have a collection dedicated to FOB), so you can only imagine my excitement Thursday morning when I woke up, scrolled through YouTube, and found that a music video for “The Last of the Real Ones” came out a few hours earlier. I’ve never tapped on a video faster than I have for that. I listened to the song and watched the music video (I’m still trying to figure out which llama was Brendon Urie) and laughed at the end credits of the music video. The song is about the singer finding a girl who he’s so in love with, his whole life is complete. Without her, he would be incomplete and he will just be a “...lonely child of the universe…” like the lyrics say. I kid you not, this was the only song I listened to in the past 48 hours (today (September 15) and yesterday). I pretty much have the entire song memorized.

(Send me a postcard if you get all the subtle references to past FOB inside jokes/music videos in the credits, or if you laughed at any part of the end credits scene)

Thank you so much for reading this week’s Songs of the Week article! I realized that only one of these five songs are classified as “Alternative” haha. I promise next week will have more Alternative music!

Now onto a little self-promo…

There’s my FOB collection!
Here’s my Fall collection...it’s been featured on the Fall channel a few times throughout the month, so check it out!
This is my backup account in case something happens to this one. I do post on this account occasionally, so check it out!

This is my third account, I actually don’t know why I even created it. I made it last night at like 11:30 lol. I’m not going to post much on here, but in the rare case that I do, at least you’ll know it’s me!

I also never formally wrote this out, but I just wanted to say thank you for everyone’s support for #WHITheRevolution. In case you didn’t know or didn’t pick up on it, I wrote the article, and it means a lot knowing that people can relate to the issues addressed in said article. Because of you guys, WHI officials have picked up on the issues and those issues are slowly being turned around. You know how you can send postcards to everyone now? That’s because of the article. The separated Articles and All Images pages? That’s also because of the article too. I love seeing everyone putting #WHITheRevolution in the tags of their images, the captions, and their bios and knowing that other people feel the same. Change is coming, and it started with us. We did it! :)

Thank you to the following people for using the #WHITheRevolution hashtag!
