Hello everyone! Welcome to my first article. I've been inspired by many talented people to start writing these for you guys, especially @music_infinity. I've decided to share some amazing songs that I personally think are extremely underrated. Just a heads up, these are all pretty much classified as pop so if you don't like that kind of music, you might not like these. I still recommend giving them a shot, though! Hopefully, this is really helpful and you will be able to find some new amazing songs!

"Lights Down Low" by MAX

"Heaven only knows where you've been, but I don't really need to know, I know where you're gonna go..."

I had heard of MAX before but had never listened to any of his songs. Then, one day, I was scrolling through my Spotify Daily Mix and most of the songs I knew or slightly recognized. Then, I saw this song and went "Oh, I recognize that artist but not the song... let's listen to this!" I immediately fell in love. He wrote this song about his girlfriend at the time who is now his wife. I think it's so beautiful and I honestly want to this to be played at my wedding one day.

"80's Films" by Jon Bellion

"Just like the 80s films, we'll hook up in my back seat and let my best friend drive..."

If I'm going to be completely honest, I found this song by looking at one of my ex-friend's Spotify playlists haha. When we were close, she used to listen to some amazing music. I was in the mood to find a new song a couple weeks ago and since I still followed her, I was like "Why not?". I heard this song and I was like I LOVE THIS! I personally think this is supposed to make you feel like you're watching your favorite older film and you just feel sentimental and happy. I had only heard of Jon Bellion after his song "All Time Low" became pretty popular and after listening to some more of his music, I have to say... he's pretty awesome. I definitely recommend that you listen to not only this song, but him in general.

"Written In the Stars" by The Girl and the Dreamcatcher

"We're right here and we're gonna write the story, written in the stars like graffiti, can't ignore it.."

I found this song back when it came out in 2015. I was randomly on Dove Cameron's Instagram and the most recent post was talking about her new song with her now ex-boyfriend Ryan McCartan. I'm not the biggest Dove fan, but I was like "I gotta check this out!" I listened to it and I really really liked it. I personally think it's about leaving your mark on the world and trying to do it creatively. This has continued to be one of my favorite songs for the past 2 years and it always puts me in a really good mood. :)

"Shadows" by Sabrina Carpenter

"And listen to me, it's okay to be afraid, just walk like you're never alone, I don't mind your shadows..."

I have always been a huge fan Sabrina since the beginning of Girl Meets World and the "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" days. When I found out she was coming out with her new album EVOLution, I was so excited. I listened to the album the day it came out and immediately Shadows was one of my favorites. This song is about not being afraid to love someone even if they had a rough past or they have flaws. I also think its about expressing your feelings and not bottling them all up inside of you. I recommend the whole album because it is amazing but I specifically chose this one because I never hear anyone talk about it... maybe that's just me haha.

"I Know Places" by Taylor Swift

"Baby, I know places we won't be found, and they'll be chasing their tails trying to track us down..."

I first heard this song in school about 3 years ago. My teacher was showing us a video and a promo for Taylor's new album at the time, 1989, popped up as an ad before the video. This was the first song that played on the ad and I told myself that as soon as I got home, I was going to listen to this on repeat. This is basically about how the paparazzi are constantly chasing celebrities around (especially when they are with possible new significant others) and not giving them any privacy. I definitely recommend giving this a listen even if you aren't the biggest TS fan!

I hope you enjoyed my first WHI article! There will definitely be more coming.

Send me a postcard with song recommendations and your opinions on these! Have a great day everyone! :)

xoxo, Helen
