Hike the Matterhorn

The Matterhorn is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind 14,692 foot peak that rises like a shark’s fin above the town of Zermatt. The Matterhorn trip starts and ends in Zermatt. Knowledge of mountaineering skills, including ice axe arrest, cramponing and roped glacier travel are required. Specific rock climbing skills such as belaying, rappelling and the ability to climb rapidly with hands and feet are also necessary.

Stay Overnight at Igloo-Village

Lying in an outdoor jacuzzi and enjoying the breathtaking view of the Matterhorn is possible at Igloo-Village Zermatt. This is pure igloo enjoyment surrounded by the most magnificent panorama the Alps has to offer. Moving three thousand tons of snow, every December, the igloos are reconstructed and designed to build Igloo-Village Zermatt. Artists from all over the world craft sculptures inside the village. With only an ice pick, motor saw and shovel, artists produce seals, arctic wolves, polar bears and whales as well as swirling designs and patterns carved into the walls of the igloos. The village is equipped with a large igloo hotel lobby and bar where the evening meal of delicious Swiss cheese fondue and homemade mulled wine is served. There are a variety of igloo options available from the standard and group igloos to a romantic igloo.
