Water has always been an essential for not only us humans, but every living creature. Since our body weight consist roughly out of 60 percent of water, we need it to keep our body hydrated.

Since we were young we were told to drink plenty of water. But what if we are drinking water the wrong way?
I am a big sucker for watching healthy routines on YouTube and I've notice that a lot of people doing those routines do not know the effect cold water has on your body. Years I went believing that cold water was healthy for your body, especially in the morning to wake you up and refresh your nerves.

But research shows different. Imagine standing along the ocean at 2 am in the morning, hearing those waves crash against the shore. It is almost winter time and the ocean is anything but warm. You close your eyes and run as fast as you can into the ocean. How does your body react? How does the water makes your skin feel? Does it feel relaxed and open or tightened?

The effects of Drinking Cold Water

  • Drinking cold water causes your blood vessels to shrink and it hinders your stomach to digest food and prevents hydration.
  • Instead of working to digest the food and absorb the nutrients to create energy, your body expends energy to regulate your temperature. This can lead to water loss.
  • Whenever you drink a cold beverage while eating or right after, the water temperature hardens fats from the food and makes it harder for your body to digest the unwanted fasts.

The effects of Drinking Warm Water

  • Warm water in the morning helps flush out unwanted substances out of your body
  • Once in our lives we are troubled by little or no bowel movement. I too had a horrible case of constipation and it motivated me to start drinking warm water. Since then I cannot imagine my daily routine without warm water.
  • Warm water in the morning can help lose weight. Warm water increases the body temperature and therefore increases the metabolic rate. An increase in the metabolic rate enables the body to burn more calories.
  • Warm water is also considered to be a natural pain reliever, since the heat from the water has a soothing and relaxing effect on the abdominal muscles.

The Perfect Time to Drink Water

  • After waking up: Actives internal organs
  • 30 minutes before a meal: Trick your brain into thinking it is already half full
  • An hour after each meal: Helps with digestion
  • Before going to bed: Helps keeps the body hydrated in case of any fluid loss during the night
  • Drink up to 8 glasses of water each day. A total of 3 liters or more
